★ Who is Tagger, and what is his story?;

— Tagger is a monster shaped by loss and responsibility. After his brother’s death and the rise of conflict between humans and monsters, he stepped into leadership out of necessity, not ambition. He fought, made harsh choices, and carried consequences that were never his alone. The peace he helped create came at a cost, pushing him away from the world rather than closer to it. Tagger refused thrones, symbols, and bonds that demanded he become something he could no longer sustain. His relationship with Evelyn ends not in hatred, but in divergence: he clings to what he believes is right, while she insists on questioning it. In the end, Tagger remains alive, isolated, and convinced, neither hero nor villain, but someone unable to let go of the role that defined him.
