Summary: Cassian returns from a fierce Illyrian civil war weary and on edge. Nesta wants to welcome her lover home after weeks away, but she knows the lust that comes on the heels of bloodshed has been building in Cassian the entire time he’s been gone. Both desperately want to be with one another, but for Nesta’s sake Cassian agrees to obey everything she says and proceed slowly.

Tagging Requests: "Velaris: Fury and Ruin″

For months I’ve been going back and forth on writing the story of Rhysand and the Inner Circle while Feyre was in Spring. Hell, even when I was writing “Velaris” I was still flip-flopping on it! Well, after seeing your amazingly warm reception, I decided to move ahead with the plans!

“Velaris: Fury and Ruin″ will be a 4 or 5 part series (still dividing it up) that takes place over the 6 weeks between ACOMAF and Feyre’s return in ACOWAR (hence the title straddling “Mist and Fury” and “Wings and Ruin”). It will deal with Cassian and Azriel’s recovery, as well as Rhysand’s relationship with Nesta and Elain before Feyre’s return.

You will not need to know “Velaris″ in order to follow “Fury and Ruin″, there aren’t any direct references to the events of “Velaris”, and any relationships that were introduced there (such as Azuala) will appear in “Fury and Ruin″ with the same ambiguity as “Velaris” anyways.

Feyre’s voice came down the mating bond distant and warped, as though she were shouting underwater, “I am safe and well. I’ll tell you what I know soon... Are they alive? Hurt?”

Rhysand was in the sitting room, the only place big enough to fit both Cassian and Azriel’s bodies. Madja had gone for the night, promising to return with more supplies at dawn. Mor was somewhere in the Court of Nightmares, hunting down information on whatever poison tipped the arrow fired into Azriel. Amren- she was prowling the Night Court looking for someone to kill.

If Azriel makes it to dawn, he will be alright. 

Madja’s words hung over Rhys like a death knell. The Shadowsinger burned with fever as poison filled his body. Angry red veins stood out across his chest, neck, and arms- radiating from the oozing black mass of bandages that marked the arrow’s entry. His skin was flushed and sweat-soaked, and when Rhys tried to read his mind all he found was a chaotic and jumbled mess of images.

If Cassian makes it to dawn... you’ll need a miracle.

He was on the opposite end of the room as Azriel, laying on his stomach on a special table that had a cutout for his face. His wings were strapped to linen-padded splints and pinned wholly open, which only emphasized the rips and tears in them. His skin and wings alike were white as the grave, his breathing heavy and slow, and when Rhys tried to scan his mind-

-a void. Empty. Silent. Dead.

Rhys took a long, shuddering breath and summoned an image of Feyre’s face, the only thing that could chase back the darkness in his soul. With perhaps the last bit of hope he possessed, he sent a reply down the bond to give her the strength she would need in Spring:

“I love you. They are alive. They are healing.”

As soon as the message was away, Rhysand buried his head in his hands and wept.
