Day 9 - Favorite Female Character (Guest): Shepherd
We saw little of Shepherd in Season 3, but her influence continued to throw a shadow over the lives of both of her children.
We had to wait until Episode 21 (Defection) for a sight of Shepherd, when she was brought in to help thwart Roman’s latest plan of attack. Despite having spent the past 2.5 years undergoing interrogation at a CIA black site, she emerged with her make-up immaculate, her hair in stylish disarray, and looking not a day older than the 1997 Shepherd we had seen earlier in flashback. She appeared subdued but defiant, her mood triumphant as she learned of her pet Kurt’s marriage to her precious daughter Remi/Jane. “Jane Doe was tailor-made for you, Kurt. By me.” Well done for slipping in that Taylor reference, Blindspot Writers!
In this episode we got to witness how Shepherd had helped mould Roman into the damaged, resentful and competitive adult he became. And how Remi would do anything to shield and protect her little brother. Jane’s scene with her mother was both a farewell and an admission by a tearful Shepherd that she had made a terrible mistake in pitting young Roman against his more gifted sister: “I’m sorry for trying to tear you and Roman apart. Of all the things I’ve done, it’s my biggest regret...Roman needed you...He was never meant to be on his own...What I couldn’t see was how much you needed him.”
Jane may have washed her hands of her mother, but is it too much to hope that we will get some interaction between Remi-Jane and Shepherd in Season 4? Pre-Jane Remi would have wanted to retrieve Shepherd from the clutches of the CIA to further her mission, but with Avery now a major part of Remi-Jane’s life, how will that color her actions?

Day 14 - Favorite Tasha Moments
Season 3 for Tasha was a lesson in friendship and betrayal.
Zapata befriended Reade’s fiancée Megan to give herself an excuse to hang out with the couple, and she found herself genuinely liking the woman. She spent the next few episodes drowning in misery and sending long lingering glances in Reade’s direction. But then the secret she had been keeping from her best friend Patterson came out in the most brutal way imaginable, and Zapata couldn’t resist the urge to unburden herself of her other secret to Reade. She then clumsily let Megan (already suspicious of Reade’s commitment to the marriage) realize that something was up and, in the subsequent confrontation, the engaged couple parted.
And then came the second betrayal. Having freed up Reade and embarked on her next mission - which necessitated her walking out on the team which had become a major part of her life - Tasha couldn’t resist having a night of passion with her former partner. How cruel, then, to dismiss him the very next morning, leaving the poor man to wonder whether he really was that bad in bed. All Tasha’s tears and guilty conscience will struggle to mend that relationship in Season 4.
Always assuming, of course, that Zapata is still on the side of the “good guys”.
