What's this? A takin (Budorcas taxicolor), a nimble ungulate from the Himalayas that's the national animal of Bhutan. I must say I'm rather taken with it.
I haven't had much time to make art lately, but I thought it might be worthwhile to share some of my recent animal sketches.
animals ive never seen as anyone's 'type (any alterhuman label!!)

No. 37 Takin Budorcas taxicolor
Found in alpine areas stretching from Western China through to Bhutan and Nepal.
The national animal of Bhutan.
Takin herds undergo a yearly vertical migration in the mountains following food availability with the snow.
Formerly thought to be related to the musk ox, phylogenetics has revealed the American mountain goat (Oreamnos americanus) to be the takin’s closest relative.
New Taxa Added: Sheep and Goats!

Takin By: Bruce Coleman, Ltd. From: Encyclopedia of the Animal World: Large Plant-Eaters 1988
Takin Budorcas taxicolor
One of the largest members of the Caprinae (goats and sheep) subfamily, the takin is found in Bhutan and northern India.
Their overall coloration ranges from blackish to reddish-brown in the eastern Himalayas to lighter yellow-gray in the Sichuan Province to mostly golden in the Shaanxi Province. The legend of the 'Golden Fleece' sought by Jason and the Argonauts may have been inspired by the lustrous coat of the golden takin.
