"Not everyone." His eyes flashed with a hint of amusement. "Just you.”

✨Alaric & Talasyn✨
I cannot express how obsessed with them I am!!!!
The Hurrican Wars by Thea Guanzon has become one of my favorite Romantasy series of all time. A Monsoon Rising was my favorite Romantasy read of 2024.
If you love Kylo ren & Rey or just Romantasy in general I highly recommend this series. It has the best use of the “enemies to lovers” trope I’ve come across yet in Romantasy. ( there is some spice so it’s 18+)
Beautiful fanart by meetyourmaker on twitter!
So many enemies to lovers ships that come to mind are based on the fandom completely disregarding what the female characters really want or even what the male characters are offering in the first place, with the fans going all "well actually..." and inserting whatever they have headcanoned for the characters. This is not inherently bad, but many of the takes I see don't actually work for the canonical characters.
Then you have Talasyn and Alaric, which are SO DAMN REFRESHING because they ARE ETL, but Thea Guanzon has written Alaric as someone who is genuinely interested in Talasyn as a person. He is interested in what she likes and deslikes, in what pleasures her, in what has traumatized her and makes her fearful. Like, the way he puts his hand above his hand and stops drinking in order to make her feel safe? *chef's kiss* The way he is always so considerate about what makes her tick during sex? *chef's kiss* The way he orders cocoa for her instead of the bland tea she doesn't care for? *chef's kiss* I could go on and on... Nevertheless the guy is whipped but he's not a brainless doormat. It's not that he doesn't question Talasyn and is just acting thus because of attraction. He genuinely sees and values who she is. These two are exactly what many fans wishes their ships actually were.

Oh my god. I finished this book in class and I kind of regret it because of how much I had to hide my emotions.
I love when my enemies to lovers are lover-ing in the best slow burniest pace ever. I love when they’re still so conflicted about their feelings but yearn to be close to each other even though— proximity wise— they are as close as they can hope. I love the internal conflict—“I can’t, I don’t have feelings for Alaric” and mister “fuck, I love my wife” — and then ripping them away from each other, making them fight for their lives looking for each other actually making them forget how much they ‘loathe’ each other.
This book was worded better, in a sense that I was a lot more immersed in their world now— it made me feel I was actually in the middle of their scenes. For those wondering, this book is incredibly amazing at depicting their love scenes— yes it’s spicy. God, the yearning, THE YEARNING and it’s always Alaric. I’ve never seen a man more wound up over his wife, emotionally and physically. I’ve also never highlighted a book as much as I did this one, if I could I would highlight every text and page in this damn book. Her description of their world is insane, she paints the world with her words and I see it clearly and (i hope) how she envisions it.
This book fr changed my life no joke. My brain chemistry forever altered by this. I love you Thea Guanzon, my filipina QUEEN. PLEASE I NEED MORE 🙏🙏
Alaric: I wear all black
The Nenavarene royal tailor: not in here, you don't!
