One of the best things about Chicago... tamale ladies!
I am eating tamales for breakfast and I am full of joy.
And tamales.
($10 worth of street tamales is just the best thing ever, y'all, especially since I have sour cream already in the house. FEAST.)
The best part about the tamale lady liking you is the extra tamale in your bag. Mmmmm.

One of the few things I really miss about not living in San Jose anymore is the tamale lady. Sunday mornings just aren’t the same without hearing her distinctive knock and familiar cry of “Tamales!”. She would tote her tasty treats around in a red cooler with wheels and go door to door. At a buck a piece, they were a delicious bargain. She’d usually show up right before the early morning football game. A belly full of homemade tamales was a perfect way to start the day, especially when I was hungover. God bless you, tamale lady.
