Hi, could you make a Karasuno Kpop Boyband Headcanon, please :)
So I personally am not into Kpop. I don’t dislike it, and absolutely will watch videos if people show them to me, but I don’t seek them out or particpate in the fandom. I called in Anni, aka @mintyoongichip or @grandmilkbread to help out, so this is mostly her work, I just turned it from a skype conversation into a coherent post.
As far as Karasuno’s music style goes, it's a bit hard to describe the music style in but more fast/upbeat songs seem fitting. They're the type of people who would have started from the bottom, and made their way up. A good descriptor for the genre might be hip hop alternative? And with the concept of them always trying to "fly" higher as the fallen crows, that genre and style would fit them more than ballads and slower songs.
As far as a band that their style is similar to, Got7 fits pretty well. When Got7 first started, their leader kinda looked like Daichi, it was pretty iconic and hilarious. They have a song called Fly too. It's funny Bambam (one of the rappers) also kinda looked like Noya with his hair down during they're time of debut.
Their choreography would probably also live up to their music, intense and full of raw emotion. And it can get fast I'd think considering the songs.
As far as roles go, Daichi is the leader obviously. Vocalists would be Daichi, Suga, Asahi, Yamaguchi, Tsukki, Ennoshita and Kinoshita. Their rappers would be Hinata, Kageyama, Narita, Noya, and Tanaka.I think for the other big roles, we can all agree suga and tsukki would dominate the visual roles. They're too pretty. I think the holy trinity known as Hinata, Noya and Tanaka would be the main dancers.
We then went off on a bit of a tangent about Kageyama, because I started giggling about him trying to rap. Anni pointed out that it works because he probably can’t sing very well, but then I thought that maybe he’s fairly good all around, as he is with volleyball, but concentrates on rapping (like he does with setting). Some of that went out the window when we remembered his off time dancing in the Meat is God incident. We did agree that if it wasn't for Daichi, Kageyama would have the worst vocabulary in his lyrics. The Kageyama discussion was the end of it, because by the time it was over it was something like 2am.
In the latest "Haikyuu!!" Chapter (348 as on now), Karasuno is playing Kamomedai. In the chapter, Hinata is able to score a point, but the blockers stop Asahi. Here's my somewhat far-fetched theory: What if, during the match, Asahi unofficially retires as the ace and Hinata takes the title instead? Asahi's already said that Hinata's appetite for growth would swallow him. If Karasuno wins, that's one thing I really think would be intresting to see, not that I don't love all the character to bits.
I’m caught up dw! I would love to see Hinata take up the mantle! He’s been working so hard and had achieved so much and I’m delighted to watch him play Hoshiumi because to me Hoshiumi is all of Hinatas potential if he had been able to properly train in middle school and had more than the one year to learn skills. (GUYS ITS BEEN ONLY JUST UNDER A YEAR IN CANON TIME SINCE HE STARTED KARASUNO HES COME SO FAR IM SO PROUD). I’ll also say that the progress he’s made in a year could also be due to that need that was unfulfilled during middle school, so it’s hard to say if he would have progressed so fast but who knows?
I’m also gonna say I would put forth Tanaka as the first candidate for ace? They’ve been doing a lot to build him up as the next ace in the past couple matches (especially early in the nationals) and I know he can easily slip under Hinatas shine as the main character but don’t forget how good he is. Kageyama and Hinata may have their quick, and Hinatas certainly picked up more skills, but Tanakas still the second strongest spiker after Asahi.
THERE IT IS
Tanaka hath no chill.
