It's good to #reflect on your #progress once in a while. Over a year ago I wanted to make a #tonguedrum but didn't have a #metal shop so I experimented with the #wood box #design. Didn't work so well. Then I had the opportunity to cut up an old propane tank in CO last summer. A few months later, after learning to #weld and renting our shop, I finished my first #tankdrum. Each one I made got better and I figured out some cool sanding and heat #patina techniques. Then I started making tongue drums by hammering sheet metal. The first one is on the right. It's been a fun year and it'll be fun to see where I'm at with this after another year.

In the last 8 or so years, I have been making music instruments from recycled propane tanks. I have encountered many customers that have purchased a Satori Drum as a gift for someone else just because that person shared one of my posts or showed interest in one of the drums. Otro fragmento de impro del día... La improvisación es como un saltar al vacío, siendo receptiva del entorno... sintiendo, escuchando y fundiendose con lo que la percepción ofrezca para convertirse en un canal de creación. En varias culturas como parte de sus tradiciones ancestrales de sanación, utilizan la improvisación musical para sacar las enfermedades de las personas que no pueden hacerlo.
