Uncle is yearning for white people’s food. Where best to go on a miserable wet cold night than the warmth of our local Grey Lynn RSC. Ben McDonald is in the kitchen, filling in for Jimmy The Cook. Uncle just cannot go past the panfried tarakihi, (doing backstrokes in the glistening brown butter), topped with capers & chopped gherkin. There’s potato salad and a side of green salad as well. Everything would have gone better with a Mac’s Green Beret beer (or three) from the bar but that will surely tip Uncle off the edge and he would make a complete tit of himself. Worse still, he’d be barred from the Grey Lynn RSC. So a tonic will have to suffice.
