So, for those wondering about the Tarif situation with Japan right now, I just ordered this JSK, OTKs and 2 sets of bow clips from Metamorphose in Japan

This is what my cart total was, I chose DHL shipping (which IIRC was the cheapest option?), and I used my points for a 1680 yen discount.

Paypal conversion to USD on that was $346.25

I ordered just before 11PM on 2/6/26 (USA time) and I got the customs charge today 2/9/26 in the afternoon. The package will be delievered tomorrow (2/10/26).

So final cost with shipping and customs is $409.79 for 46,700 yen of merchandise, which is still better than $1:100 yen, so that's better than what I've paid at times in the past for similar things.

Does anyone remember the old quiz radio show on npr called Whad'Ya Know?

It wasn't as good as Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.

But they did have a question called, "things you should have learned in school (had you been paying attention)

And it has become very clear to me that not all (US) Americans payed attention in school government* when we learned what an terrif was.

I was so shocked when trump won because I couldn't belive do many people voted for the guy running openly on a platform of higher taxes...

But its slowly becoming clear that people either don't know what a tarrif is or didn't belive he'd go through with it.

It's so stupid and so embarrassing and I'm so tired.

*it used to be called civics but that's a whole other can of worms
