静謐でエレガント、これこそ彼の作品にふさわしい言葉だ。森本太郎はフランスの科学哲学者・詩人のガストン・バシュラールの著書『蝋燭の焔』からインスピレーション得て今回の制作にのぞんだと言う。キャンバス上で表現される焔は自分で写した写真や印刷物をもとにしている。それだけにとどまらず、時にはジョルジュ・ド・ラ・トゥールの描いた焔をもとにしたものもあると言う。そんな森本太郎の渾身の展覧会の映像をご覧ください。
Tranquility and elegance are the words that best describe his work. Taro Morimoto says that he was inspired by the book “The Flame of the Candle” by Gaston Bachelard, a French philosopher of science and poet. The flame on the canvas is based on his own photographs and printed matter. In addition, he says that he sometimes uses Georges de La Tour's painting of the flame as a basis for his work.
