★ 𝄃 𝄃 𝄂 𝄂 𝄃 ⌗ 𝓣EDDY ( @tarote ) SAYS !! ( ⌗ 𝓽𝔁𝓽 ) : i think i lost my vape. is it there ?
𝓣OOK her long enough. ( sooner or later teddy will catch on to your little game, making her come back around for small things . . . ) until then, though, denali is content to lounge back on their sectional & snap a cheeky photo with the yellow disposable in question propped between cherry - glossed lips.
( ⌗ 𝓽𝔁𝓽 ) : [ 𝓘MAGE ] . . . nope, haven't seen it ♥️
@tarote ; "don’t make me regret giving you the aux cord"
❝ oh, come on, you and i both know i have excellent taste. ❞ sunny flashes a teasing grin, their thumb already hovering over the screen as they scroll through their playlist. the faint glow from the phone lights up their face, a mischievous glint in their eyes.
the first few notes of a darkwave track hum through the speakers. the bass is heavy and atmospheric, matching the soft neon glow from the dashboard. sunny leans back, eyes glinting faintly in the reflection. ❝ see? no regrets yet. unless you're about to tell me you're not into the cure and if that's the case then that makes you the one with shit taste now. ❞
"i don't think we, like, actually have to work together," mikayla points out, keeping her eyes trained on the ground, all under the guise of looking for wood, when really, it's just to avoid looking at @tarote— trying, as always, to avoid the nervous fluttering that happens in the pit of her stomach whenever she's around, but to no avail. it's still there, so of course the only solution she can think of is to make her go away entirely. "we could... split up. cover more ground, whatever." rationally, she knows that splitting up in the middle of nowhere is a horrible idea, and the more she thinks on it, the more she wants to take it back, but she doesn't. "just saying."
@tarote said: 'how’s your wound?'
"It's fine. I'm fine." It hurt, badly. But she was currently trying to just grit her teeth and bear it. Pushing herself far past her limits, all because she couldn't afford to look weak. She sucks in a sharp breath, "fuck." So maybe it was slightly worse than she thought, or rather, was making it out to be. "Don't worry about me," her voice sounded ragged. "I'm okay."
@tarote 💬 "i'm tired of being a good time."
the campfire songs are charming, but taissa tries not to allow herself to get too comfortable with the fun they're attempting to have here. a part of her is aware that it's probably a healthy way to cope with it — find some kind of 'good' amongst all the bad, try to hold onto the things that make them feel comfortable or happy — but the only way taissa knows how to do that is by focusing her energy on anything that will keep them alive and get them home.
the party games seem to annoy her more than the others: the games of 'never have i ever' that leave taissa realizing how much of her high school experience had been squashed by her need to focus solely on the future and not have enough fun, the way her father always encouraged. the ghost stories and the séance, igniting a fear deep inside her that she refuses to reveal to anyone else, because of course taissa doesn't believe in that shit, she can't. the campfires at night that almost feel like a simple weekend getaway where living like this for a few days is 'fun,' comforting enough that the others actually allow themselves a laugh. she carries herself as if she's above it all, like they have more important things to think about, and yet, she's desperate to find the joy in it all, to allow herself a chance to live in the present when it's all they've got until they find a way out of here.
she worries more about what she can do here to keep them alive, because she has to do something, she has to prove herself as the leader their coaches never allowed her to be before. she wonders if teddy's in search of a greater purpose, too, and if that's the case, maybe taissa can help her. ❝ for what it's worth, i'd prefer to hear you sing over crystal. ❞ she means that, but there's a small grin at the corner of her lips to show she's only teasing, especially since tai's never allowed herself to just enjoy it herself, even if teddy does deserve it. ❝ it's cool, you know. if it doesn't feel worth it to keep doing it, or if you just... want to focus on something else. ❞ taissa can understand that. ❝ how do you feel about wielding an axe? — i always need help with the firewood. i think you'd be pretty good with it. ❞
it’s either the tequila, the general bad attitude, or usual aggression issues gunner has tunnel vision, and their target is a sorority-type in skinny jeans. she drinks a natty light, she sneers, she is just begging to get decked. Her perfect teeth need to be done in. there needs to be some blood on her target crop top. gunner has never been the bigger person. they’ve always been bruised knuckles and black eyes … and what a shame, that the first time they try to take the high road, they’re just egged on. they take teddy’s advice : it’s a one-two punch, it leaves her on the floor, and it sprays blood all over the bar. rhinestones twinkle, pink cowboy hat flies across the pub, and soon, there’s nails clawing at gunner’s face. freckles peel, black eyeshadow runs, skin breaks … gunner stumbles onto the sidewalk, head spinning with booze, and an inflated ego. “ that’s what she fucking gets !!! ” gunner stumbles around the corner, walking backwards, still screaming obscenities towards the group of girls walking the other way. are you proud of yourself, gunner? hot shit, huh, tough bitch. “ i fuckin’ told you : if anyone hits on you like that, i’ll break their fuckin’ teeth in. i wasn’t playin’ when i told you … the fuck did you expect? want me to stand by and let it happen … ??? fuckin’ … tssss. ”
“ if they strike once, then you just hit 'em twice as hard. ” @tarote
