Summary: Changbin quickly learns why people say the halls of The Thunderous Dorms are haunted by a ghost-like creature with horns.
Note: I came up with a story/creature similar to this not too long ago but wanted to change it to fit the theme. Kinda short⚔️
There is an often forgotten ghost story that randomly gets passed around The Thunderous Dorms. It has been said that two siblings can be seen in the form of beast-like deer after hours. Only when you're by yourself and aren't looking for them will they appear.
The sister was abandoned by her parents and secretly lived in the dorms for two years before disappearing altogether. Only her sibling knew where she was and they checked in on her from time to time. Her yearning and want for love can be felt by anyone she chooses to torture. Students have reported randomly feeling lost or lonely in the halls and even catching glimpses of her long fire-like hair atop her skull.
The other is far darker and scarier than their sister. They were much older and kept to themselves, rarely talking to anyone. Before disappearing they said they had hidden a vile containing death itself within it. No such vile was ever found but random flashes of fire and a deer skull within it have been said to be seen. Puffs of smoke and hot air blowing across your neck when bent down have also been associated with them. The two were members of The Thunderous House and randomly went missing one night close to Christmas.
Random patches of unidentifiable hair have also been found throughout the halls. When Changbin first heard the story he obviously brushed it off, especially after getting picked on by Chan for quote “being scared.” The random patches of hair were probably from other students' pets and candles easily explained the illuminated halls.
With Chan thinking he was weird for even considering it, he brought it to the attention of his friend Hyunjin from The Runners House. Hyunjin agreed it sounded fake but mentioned they came across almost as a Wendigo instead of a ghost.
“A Wendigo, really. Aren't those like outside in snow?”
“They could be a….ghost Wendigo mix? I don't know what they are but your description sounds like a Wendigo. I have a class I need to be in, see ya.”
With Hyunjin’s words stuck in his mind Changbin decided he was going to wonder around at night in hopes of seeing one. The rules to finding them clearly stated you had to not be looking for them so this would prove a challenge for him.
It was dark and everything was way creepier. He also had to worry about being caught by a teacher and getting in trouble that way. With his wond lit up, he quietly listened to the pattering of his feet and tried to forget why he was there.
After a few minutes he was about to give up when he found a picture drawn on the wall that looked like a child had drawn it. He knelt down and somehow got lost trying to figure out why it was there. He'd walked these halls so many times and never noticed it?
The sister had put it there in hopes he'd feel sad but her powers didn't work on Changbin and that angered the other. With Changbin oblivious to what was to happen, they huffed a big puff of smoke getting his attention.
It was a random puff of hot smoke down his neck, and when he looked up, he saw the hallway illuminated by something just around the corner. It was slowly getting closer to the turn, and the light on the walls danced like fire. Changbin was a great student and knew many spells to protect himself. The shock that this was actually happening got to him, and he slipped on the long rug earning a loud “YAAA!!!”
He fled back to his bed hoping nobody heard his scream. He didn't sleep a wink.
The next morning he tried telling Chan and Hyunjin what happened but they thought he was just playing around. Never will he question a ghost story again.

Emmer had been managing to lay low for the next day and a half, though it seemed much longer. She’d received a gift from Bran, some trail mix and a granola bar, and was hoping that would be enough to sustain her, at least for a day or so. As soon as dawn broke, she knew her next mission was to find some water. She was smart enough to know that, without water, she likely wouldn’t make it to the third day.
She hiked through the grassy fields, shrugging on her jacket as a chill ran through her bones. It had started to warm up, but Emmer figured it had to be at least below freezing, and last night she was sure she would freeze. But, for now, this terrain was the most familiar to her, and, as such, her best bet for survival. She’d been walking only for about ten minutes when she came across a small pond. However, much to her dismay, it had frozen over. Definitely below freezing, then.
Pausing for a moment, Emmer looked around her, finding a rather large stick resting on the ground. She wasn’t too sure how it had gotten there, but she wasn’t going to question it. She picked up the stick, and used it to bash against the layer of ice on the pond, eventually manage to crack through. Her mouth was virtually dry, and the sight of water was incredible to her. Her next task was drinking it. She didn’t know what was in the water, even if it was safe, but at this stage, she wasn’t too sure she even cared. Though, she knew it was going to be freezing.
Carefully, she tested the water with one finger, which came out almost numb from the cold. Though, she knew it wouldn’t kill her to get her hands a little cold. So, she dipped one hand in, feeling the cold bite straight away. She scooped up a mouthful of water, immediately drinking from it, relishing in the cool liquid slip down her throat. She shoved her hand into the pocket of her jacket, and, much to her surprise, it didn’t take too long for it to warm up again. Or, as warm as it could get here. Though it was beyond freezing here, she didn’t dare venture away from the only source of water she’d seen. That could be suicidal. “See, Aria?” She whispered to the cameras she knew were watching, “I’m super resourceful.”
Emmer’s brows furrowed as she could’ve sworn she heard a faint buzzing sound. Another tribute? It couldn’t be. The buzzing continued, and Emmer’s heart started to race with the though that maybe the water was infected with some kind of parasite. A brain-eating, buzzing parasite? She thought to herself, Now you’re being ridiculous, that’s no fun for the viewers at home. She couldn’t be hallucinating already, now could she? Surely not.
Then, the ground started to shake. Emmer was almost knocked off her feet with the sheer force of it. An earthquake? No, that’s too predictable. Suddenly, a large, sharp-toothed, savage-looking creature burst through the pond she had just been drinking from. Emmer gave off a scream so loud it’d probably make ears bleed. She scrambled backwards, trying to get away from the creature, when another one burst through the ground behind her.
Frantically, Emmer ran as fast as she could from the two creatures, as even more began to spring through the ground around her. Ahead, she could see a bridge across one of the chasms, and for a moment, she hoped the creatures were only in the sector where she was. The didn’t seem to be attacking her, but she wasn’t going to wait around to see what they were there for. As she ran, drawing closer to the bridge, dozens of ships began descending towards the ground, and, as one landed to her right, she saw massive, robot-like creatures emerging.
Emmer crossed the bridge, and felt her heart leap into her throat. Both kinds of monsters were swarming this area, too, fighting each other. Though they didn’t seem interested in her, Emmer certainly didn’t want to be caught up in the middle of them. The new area was awash with the colour orange, and would be quite beautiful if Emmer were in any other situation. There were, however, lots of valleys and caves, and Emmer raced towards the nearest cave, huddling in against herself to withstand the cold until the fighting ended.
This is stupid, so damn stupid and even as I think that I’m still writing, what even is that? I know what you’re even thinking, or would be, that this is pointless and stupid yet will still keep reading... because you’re curious like that, you never can leave things alone when you notice them. Stubborn. But, you won’t admit that. You smack anyone who points that out to you, Jett especially, but then again he only does it to get a rise from you. To try an earn a smile, or some kind of reaction from you. You usually end up laughing, probably the only time you do laugh is around him. He’s that kind of a person, he can make anyone laugh.
Things are going to get harder now, though they feel pretty tough as it is, like it can’t get much tougher. But, it will, but you’ll be okay. You are stronger then you realise, and whilst you won’t realise it for a long time it’ll be what gets you through the tough times. You won’t have Jett by your side, it makes you realise you have to be able to be happy alone before you can be happy with someone else by your side.
I’m going to stop writing, because if I feel stupid writing it, you’re thinking that this is stupid completely.
As strange as this might sound now this is you talking to you from the future.
There are a few things I need to tell you about your future. I know you feel lonely right now and you won’t really feel much different when you are older.
And yes kids are mean. They tease you because you are different, they don’t let you play with them because you don’t want to do the same thing as they want to.
You don’t need them, little me. Because you are always stronger on your own. Father is right there, the only person you can truly depend on is yourself.
That brings me to another point though: father is not always right. You’ll soon find out that things are more different that you have though. There is one big lesson you are bound to learn: the capitol is not always right and perhaps- perhaps it might even not be as good as father wants you to think. When the time comes that you’ll find out about it please do not freak out. It will be hard to wrap your mind around it. It’s different from everything you have ever been thought, but- if you pull through you might- you might even find your first friend. Or at least a person that might not hate you completely.
But to do that you have to be strong and you might have to defy some rules, which will anger our father, but you can do it. You have to trust yourself.
Don’t let those kids drag you down. You are not weird, well perhaps you are a bit, but I’ve been told that that is okay. I guess I really am no good at this reassuring stuff, am I?
Please take care and- and learn to find your own way. That’s what I wish the most for you.
