Playtime (1967) by Jacues Tati.
PLAYTIME (R2017-1967) - The VISUAL GENIUS OF JACQUES TATI (Part 2/10)
Playtime (see Part 9) is JACQUES TATI‘s true masterpiece.
A 6 year long labor of love which left him bankrupt as he spent all his money on the creation of massive set including glass and steel buildings, dubbed Tativille, representing the modern world that Mr Hulot was trapped in. Despite the commercial flop, it is an amazing movie worth watching for its visual beauty and unique comic genius.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the movie, French artist Vincent Mahe created this superb limited edition print with Mr Hulot colorful attire singled out among the suits of the corporate world.

This morning Kell and I made a quick trip to Melbourne to deliver the 16 completed of the planned 17 Jacques Tati themed 'TATIVILLE' drawings to Outré Gallery where they are now ready to be framed and exhibited from mid April. - We made this little video of the of drawings before departing with them. I started the first drawing almost exactly 12 months ago and I can't wait for the exhibition now! - I'll have lots more information about it in the weeks to follow...
