Why is the helpol community on Pinterest so sensitive.

I saw someone say things like: "oh Dionysus your fruity ass would have loved femininomenon!", "oh Apollo and Aphrodite you would have loved DTI!", "Hyacinthus and Apollo's ship name should be called Photosynthesis!", "Artemis is a asexual icon!"

...and everyone is getting so mad at them for 'disrespecting' Them??

These kids (who are making these headcanons) aren't referring to the Gods we worship. Hell- they may not even know that this is a religion. Half of the time they're just making posts about them about the Percy Jackson/EPIC versions and not the myths themselves.

What happened to tolerance? What happened to 'the Gods are not their myths'? What happened to educating?

Why can they be bashed on for having fun with media-ified Gods but I get a pass for calling Odysseus, the hero with a cult and who was worshipped for his myths and wit, the 'stupid guy with a stupid hat'? Why does a random fourteen year old who doesn't know that HelPol is a thing get sent threats for calling Aphrodite a diva, while I get a pass for calling Achilles, who was VERY widely worshipped across the Mediterranean, a twink and a fishboy? If they are evil, then I am the ruler of hell.

something i love about the epic cycle is how no one is to blame, you cant point fingers but i also hate it when people do that like.

"Odysseus' fault!" he wanted the best for his best friend and wanted their marriage to be secured, Helen could be kidnapped, and who wants that?

"Paris' fault!" he was presented with the options of war, kingship and love. he probably assumed he couldn't fight or rule, so he took the least destructive option. he probably didn't even know who Helen was or about the pact.

"Helen's fault!" she can not be blamed because she is either a. under Aphrodite's influence b. kidnapped against her will or c. both

"Zeus' fault" he had to choose between his wife, his daughter, and his other daughter whos the goddess of beauty. what do you expect? if he chose one the others would be displeased.

"Eris' fault!" if i wasn't invited to a marriage and everyone else was, i would be just as angry.
