Owlheart, Falconwing, Ivyheart, Starlingstep, Tawnyleap

I have had my characters interact with Owlheart and Falconwing, so I have more of an opinion on them than the others. My characters have more of a relationship with those two, so I do have more of a preference for them. I have spoken to Ivyheart once, and I did like them a bit, but I do not have as much of an opinion on her as the other two. I have not barely/not spoken to Tawnyleap and Starlingstep, so I cant really place them anywhere but at the bottom of the list.

002 | give me a character and i will tell you...

how i feel about this character: i have always been a huge tawnyleap fan. she’s always had such an interesting personality and place in jaggedclan without ever feeling like she’s trying too hard to be unique or out there. there’s no real gimmick to her, she’s just genuinely special. the care she has for other cats and the passion that shines through her relationships with them is what really endears me towards her. she so clearly cares for ivyheart, starlingstep, for her kits and for all the cats she is involved with, even if she doesn’t always know how to best handle those dynamics when they become a bit cloudy or complicated. overall i just really adore tawnyleap and love seeing her each and every time she pops up in the roleplay!

all the characters i ship romantically with them: shadepelt, absolutely...they have a simple but sweet dynamic, one you can’t help but appreciate. 

my non-romantic OTP for this character: tawnyleap and either of her sisters! i have an obvious bias for tawnyleap and starlingstep, but seeing tawnyleap’s recent interaction with ivyheart really made me emotional. it’s another instance of tawnyleap just trying her best by caring for her loved ones with all the love in her heart, and the way she and ivyheart were able to come together was super duper sweet.

my unpopular opinion about this character: it’s not that i think tawnyleap shouldn't have been a mother, it’s just...maybe a little strange that she did settle down so easily? she’s always been a bit of an oddball, and it could have been cool to see her have reservations about following a traditional path even though i am totally a fan of her + shadepelt + their family.

one thing i wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i’d love to see a sort of action mom tawnyleap moment with her babies...she’s not very much of a badass fighter typically, but it’d be neat to see her kick some ass for the sake of her kits, maybe surprise them with just how strong she can be when it comes to protecting her family.

my otp: tawnyleap / shadepelt!

my cross-clan ship: this is gonna be an absolute wildcard (most cross-clan ships will be), but i think in terms of pairing tawnyleap up with one of the creekclan cats she knew as a kit...tawnyleap and dewshine could’ve been interesting. they’re both sort of weirdos in their own right, but very much attached to their family, and also total sweethearts.

a headcanon: tawnyleap almost considered naming one of her kits sweetkit after sweetwind. it was a fleeting thought, and she ended up feeling more disgusted by her runaway mother than anything else in the end, but for a moment she wondered if she could “fix” that part of her past by associating the name with something positive.

when i started shipping it

i can’t remember exact details, but i vaguely recall a baby shadepelt thinking of or calling tawnyleap pretty, and...really, that was all i needed. it was too sweet to resist.

my thoughts

i adore tawnyleap and shadepelt together so much...seeing them become friends back in their apprentice days was undeniably sweet. they were both sort of odd in their own ways, shadepelt a kittypet turned warrior and tawnyleap, well...she was her awkward goblin self dealing with an array of family issues. they really just pair together well, to me, and it’s obvious to see how much shadepelt cares for tawnyleap and how much tawnyleap in turn adores him. they’re happy together and i love it.

what makes me happy about them

the fact that they’ve started their own little family is SO sweet and precious...they’re both a bit young, yes, but i genuinely think that they’re ready and capable of handling kits. they both want to have them, and i think that desire will help make them good parents even though they’re a bit more inexperienced than older clanmates would be. seeing the family portrait marlee drew of tawnyleap having her own kits now just...really got to me, okay?? okay??? i remember when she was just a BABY...

what makes me sad about them

honestly, nothing? like, a part of what makes me love tawnyshade so much is that they aren’t a couple ridden with angst and drama. they’re simple, they’re sweet, they genuinely love each other, and though they can certainly have problems to work through, they’ve never been at odds with each other or done much to make me sad about them / their relationship.

who i’d be comfortable with them ending up with

i don’t particularly ship either of them with any other cats, but some wildcard pairings...shadepelt and mintwhisker could’ve been cute, i think, with shadepelt being all flustered when mintwhisker slapped down all his charm. as for tawnyleap...it’s really hard for me to picture her with anyone other than shadepelt, honestly. i feel like a lot of other cats wouldn’t be able to understand her in the way that he does. 

who is the big spoon / little spoon

tawnyleap is absolutely the big spoon. she takes her dumb lil kittypet husband and wraps him all up in her insanely long legs when they cuddle up together.

what is their favorite activity

snuggling...shadepelt loves how warm and comfortable it makes him feel, and for tawnyleap, it’s a reminder that there’s someone out there who genuinely loves her, who wants to be at her side, whose desires are as simple as just cuddling up with her and being happy.
