One of the true talents of a skilled taxidermist is to recreate nature in it’s natural state or as close to natural as they can get it. When I started taxidermy I made the decision not to mount domestic pets. For me there is too much baggage with a domestic animal. The emotional connection is too great. If the mount is not right for whatever reason then you run the roar of traumatising your client and damaging your reputation. But that is just my personal view. Fish taxidermy is something I’ve never attempted for two reasons. One I don’t fish and I know very few fishermen so I’ve had no call for it. Two it’s never really interested me as much as other forms of taxidermy.
