• Don had been a Chris fan since his boy band days and decided to pursue a singing and acting career inspired by him.
• He bought all of Chris’ merchandise. Photocards carefully decorated, walls covered in posters from the band’s era.
• Don landed a few extra roles and hoped it might lead to appearing in Chris’ music videos. He did get in, but Chris barely paid him any attention 😭 Don was still internally fangirling.
• A few years later, Chris’ band disbanded, and Don was devastated. He and other fans even held a funeral to mourn the loss of their favorite boy band.
• Not long after, Chris announced the start of his acting career, claiming he had been “noticed” by a high-tier agent who wanted him as a co-host on a gossip show (Chris begged for it).
• Don was thrilled and followed Chris into this new phase. He felt inspired to seriously pursue the entertainment industry himself.
• Chris climbed the ladder quickly and eventually became the main host of the show. Don, meanwhile, started working behind the scenes as a producer.
• This was when they officially met. Chris was leaning hard into his diva persona, demanding specific foods and drinks in his green room. But Don already knew exactly what he wanted and how he wanted it. Chris loooved that.
• Don confessed he had been a fan forever and openly idolized him. Chris, of course, only heard the compliments, but it was enough for him to give Don a chance to rise too.
• Don accepted and eventually became a co-host himself. Meanwhile Chris continued hosting and making movies.
• Then Chris started hosting Total Drama, which became a hit. As his fame grew, he became more self-absorbed and increasingly vicious toward his coworkers, including Don.
• Despite this, Don was so good at his job that he landed the hosting role for Ridonculous Race.
• Chris was furious, especially because the show had Don’s name right in the middle. He ranted to the producer about changing it to “The Chris McLean Show” but was shut down immediately.
• Chris grew bitter toward Don, convinced he should have hosted the spin-off (even though he publicly looked down on it).
• They crossed paths again at an awards ceremony, where hosts were nominated for Best Show. Ridonculous Race had an amazing season, while Total Drama and Chris were losing relevance.
• Online, people ate up Chris’ kicks to the press about Don’s hosting abilities. He claimed he had discovered Don, only for Don to “bite the hand that fed him”
• Don laughed it off and fired back by referencing Chris’ embarrassing time in jail, saying the industry needed fresh faces and maybe Chris should go back there.
• Despite the fight, the internet could not stop shipping them. Edits and videos filled social media, playing up the former mentor and student turned enemies dynamic (me too honestly 👀)
• Don won the award. In his speech, he thanked the academy, his makeup team, the producer, and just to be petty, Chris, calling him his inspiration.
• The camera cut to Chris, who had no choice but to clap and smile through it.
