a/n: again, i don’t proof read i’m sorry for mistakes
Friday had come and gone. It was Saturday and you hadn’t spoken to Conrad since Thursday. Every time you passed him in the house you had to bite your tongue and refrain from telling him all the things you’ve ever wanted to tell him. All you wanted to do was to grab him and hold him and never let him go again. But you couldn’t. This weekend wasn’t about you or Conrad. It was about Belly.
You sat there at the kitchen island, spoon in your hand and your phone propped up against the cereal box on the counter. You scrolled aimlessly, shoving spoonfuls of the cereal in your mouth that Conrad had bought for the house.
“Good morning,” Belly gloomily says, taking a seat beside you at the island.
“You okay?” You say, covering your mouth full of cereal.
She sighs, rubbing her forehead. “Jere can’t make it. He’s stuck at work.” She shrugs and frowns.
You weren’t surprised. Jeremiah isn’t exactly great at this whole wedding thing. He’s too busy getting his father’s approval. Jeremiah has always longed for Adam’s approval but it wasn’t like him to put everything else before Belly.
“Shit. I’m sorry, Bells.” You sigh, rubbing her bicep. She sends you a soft smile.
“I really didn’t want to do all this shopping alone.” She groans and pours herself a bowl of cereal.
“So don’t. I’ll join you.” You say, standing up, making your way to the sink to put your dirty dishes away.
Her face and attitude shifted suddenly. She was hopeful.
“Really? I don’t wanna bore you.” She frowned again.
“You could never,” You say, grabbing her shoulders and pulling her into a hug. “I’m gonna go freshen up.”
She nods and you make your way upstairs. You walked past Conrad’s room and heard his light snores from behind the door and you clutched your heart. You’d give anything to be lying next to him and feeling the vibrations of those snores against your ear.
You sighed and walked into your bedroom. There was no need to shower as you took one the night before so you threw on the first outfit you dug out of your bag. You did your hair and makeup and headed out the door with Belly when she was finished.
You and Belly went to the bakery to try and order the cake but that resulted in failure. Almost everything the two of you did today ended in failure.
You sat in the driver seat of your car and Belly in the passenger seat, a box of cupcakes sat on the center console.
“You wanna try one?” You gestured to the cupcakes. Belly frowned. It wasn’t like her to pass up a dessert. “Oh, c’mon!”
Finally, Belly cracks a smile and opens the box taking out a cupcake. She takes a bite, chocolate frosting covering her lips.
“S’ good.” She mumbles with a mouthful. You laugh at the girl who was covering her mouth.
More and more shopping went by and you both decided to call it a day.
Walking into the house, bags filling up your arms, there was Conrad. He takes some bags from you and Belly, “Thanks,” You mumble, not making eye contact. He hums.
The tension between the two of you filled the house like a rope stretched to its breaking point. At times, you didn’t mind it but at other times you just wanted him and nothing else. Seeing him again felt like a well worn sweater. Warm and fuzzy but could snag at any minute.
You and Belly changed into your pajamas and headed outback to sit by the pool with a bottle of wine. You cracked it open and began pouring the two of you a glass.
Belly took a sip and hummed, “I had fun today,” She exclaims. You smiled. “I did too!”
Silence took over and all you could hear was the faint sound of waves in the distance, the trees swaying, and the rocking chairs creaking beneath you.
Hours went by, you and Belly exchanging jokes and memories. Then Jeremiah showed up. He actually made it.
“Jere?” Belly giggles and jumps up from her seat, jumping into his arms. You turn towards the couple and smile. Jeremiah greets you and the two of you hug. It had been so long since you’d seen him.
“I’ll leave you guys to it.” You say as the couple was wrapped up in one another’s arms, paying no mind to anything around them.
You walked into the house, your feet pattering beneath you as you placed your wine glass in the sink. Walking through the house, it was quiet and dimly lit.
You walked up the stairs and heard quiet shuffling come from Conrad’s room. His door was ajar and you saw him standing there. Standing there with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist and his back covered in water droplets, water from his hair dripping on the hardwood floor beneath him as he was digging through a drawer.
You swallowed hard and shifted slightly causing the floorboards to creak. Conrad snapped his head your way and you hurried off. But he caught you.
“Y/N?” He calls out, a smirk pulling at his lips.
You stopped dead in your tracks in the doorway to your room. You squeeze your eyes shut and turn around. “Hi,” You mumbled avoiding eye contact.
“Were you watching me?” He teases, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning against his doorframe.
“Uh, no, I just heard something.” You lied. Of course you were watching him.
He nods slowly. “Right,” he says looking away.
You both stood there in silence waiting to see if either of you would say something. It was impossible to avoid him and the way he stood there so effortlessly, his toned chest and stomach on display. You subconsciously bit your lip and Conrad chuckled.
“Goodnight,” he throws his hand up in a wave before heading off into his room.
“Goodnight.” You gave him a tight lipped smile and closed your bedroom door.
You leaned against the door as it shut and buried your face in your hands, mumbling profanities to yourself.
You snapped back to reality and pulled your laptop out of your duffel bag then you cuddled up into the bed. You responded to some emails about work, scrolled through Pinterest trying to find ideas for Belly’s bachelorette party.
Hours went by and you couldn’t seem to fall asleep. You spent hours scrolling on your laptop, your phone, watching videos to help you fall asleep but nothing budged. You tossed and turned in the bed, the sheets all twisted beneath you.
You realized it was because you couldn’t get him out of your head. He was right down the hall and all you wanted was to be lying beside him, legs intertwined, playing with his hair.
You threw the covers to the side and pulled yourself up out of the bed and made your way down the hallway to his room. You took a deep breath and knocked on his door.
“Conrad?” You whispered, ear to the door. You heard his feet scurry across the floor and the door swung open.
He stood there in nothing but his blue plaid pajama pants, hair messy.
Conrad rubs his eyes, stretching on the way to open his door. “Y/N?” He squints, tiredly.
“Can I come in?” You asked, fiddling with your rings. He nods and opens the door wider for you to come in.
You felt so many emotions walking into that room. Everything was still the same. Chills crawled up your spine, goosebumps forming on your skin.
“Uh… you can sit down.” Conrad said groggily, taking a seat on the edge of his bed, patting the spot next to him.
The dark grey comforter beneath you was as soft as you remember from all the nights you’d sneak into his room as teenagers and cuddle and watch the stupidest movies you could possibly find. So many laughs and kisses exchanged here in this room and you felt pain in your heart. You missed it all.
You two sat there in silence for a few moments. Your fingers traced the comforter as if you were tracing all the memories shared in this room.
Finally, you looked at him and he looked at you. Glances were exchanged between eyes and lips and your hands inching closer and closer.
A smile formed on your face before it quickly turned to a frown as tears pooled in your eyes. “I still love you.” You whispered, voice cracking.
He didn’t say anything. He looked down, eyes shut tightly.
You stood up and started pacing. “I had no idea you would be here but seeing you… seeing you brought me home. And I felt my heart start beating again. I want that feeling to keep going. When I look at you, I forget everything. There’s just you. I just wanna hold you and never let you go again… And I—”
Conrad jumps up and grabs your wrist, pulling you into him, his other hand squeezing your waist.
You were startled but you looked at him with wide, hopeful eyes. His eyes were wet but he tried to hide it.
“Y/N, I…” He starts, eyes darting between your eyes and your lips.
“Say it.” You whisper, lips inching closer to his.
But he didn’t have to say it. Instead, he smashed his lips to yours in a sloppy but passionate kiss. He let go of your wrist. Your hands found the nape of his neck and his hands found your waist. It was beautiful, magical even. Just two souls reclaiming their love for one another.
His hands trailed all over your back and the underneaths of your thighs. You pulled away, bottom lip practically stuck to his and pushed him gently onto the bed behind him. You took note of the way his golden-brown hair bounced against his forehead and crawled on top of him, straddling his waist. Your palms fell flat on his chest and his flat above your bottom. You kissed him again. And again, then again. He was infectious and you wanted more. He fell back slowly on his elbows at how hard you planted your lips to his. He pulled away and smirked, hands now cupping the backs of your thighs.
Your hair was hanging in his face so he brushed it behind your ear. “You’re perfect.” He mumbled, lips falling straight back to yours.
You parted your lips, his tongue slipping in and you gladly accepted.
He tasted sweet just like the muffins he would get up early every morning during the summer for, every single year. You moaned against his lips and he swallowed hard. You pulled away, your bottom lip still touching his. His eyes grew dark and he could see it in yours as well.
You pulled your sweatshirt over your head, swiftly, now exposing your bare chest, your nipples stiffening as the AC took control of the room. He flipped you over, him now hovering above you. He leaned down placing his lips on your jaw then slowly down your chest, his hand gripping your ribcage, thumb brushing over your nipple.
He came back up and his eyes found yours like he was asking for permission to go further. You nodded slowly. He leaned down and pressed his lips to yours once more. You could feel his bulge right at the waistband of your tiny pink pinstriped shorts. Your fingertips grazed his stomach, inching closer to his waistband as his right hand cradled your back, pulling you closer to his chest.
You pulled away from the kiss and brought your hands up to his face, tracing his cheekbones. Your thumb grazed his bottom lip and he closed his eyes, pressing his lip fully onto your thumb in a kiss. “I love you.” He whispered.
Your whole body softened.
You smiled with tears in your eyes. “I love you, too.” You whispered back. He smiled down at you.
You got your boy back. He was all yours. And you were never letting him go again.
