      Kenny had been working over time for a couple months now, trying to get enough money for a surprise for his younger brother. He hated that it still took some getting used to for him, used to calling him his sister Karen. But his Kare-bear still meant the world to him, even if he wasn’t home as much as he used to be. Kenny hated leaving Kare alone with his da.. with Stuart. He wanted to be there to protect his baby sibling like he did when he was younger, but as he grew up he found it harder and harder to stay at home, usually out working to try to afford a place for him and Kare to move out to or hopping between friends houses. 

     He had finally done it though. Stashed up enough money that he could afford to buy Kare his first binder, without his parent’s finding out about the money. Sneaking in through his window after depositing his paycheck he scrambled over his bed and out to the hall way to his sibling’s room, knocking quietly, hoping that he wouldn’t be too mad at him.

     “Kare-bear, you still awake?” He asked through the closed door.
