I have a sinus infection. I have had is for probably 2 weeks now. I thought that it was an ear infection at first so I was just dealing with it and hoping that it would go away, but after a week of OTC meds I was was not getting better so I followed up with my primary over the phone and she had me come in that day, so that she could look in my ear and decide what meds to give me. And then I got there and my ears were perfect and my face was hella swollen and so it’s a sinus infection and I’m on antibiotics and steroids.
But two days into that we thought “hey what if it’s covid? I know we have not gone anywhere in weeks but what if?” So I was able to get a test early on Thursday morning. I was told that it would take 48 hours. It has been more than that. I’m able to track my test, which is cool, and I’m glad that testing has improved so much! But the site says that it will take 24-48 hours, and it has been more than 72 hours since I took the test and more than 24 since they test has been in testing. And I understand that they have delays for holiday shipping, and that there are a lot of tests. And that it’s the weekend. But they are open, and they promise, 24-48 hours. There are no *s there are no terms or conditions that exclude that and the only reason that I even know about holiday delays is because I emailed them and their automated response said “[holiday shipping!]”
But in order to find that out I had to check their FAQ and then email them. It should have been in their FAQ if it’s in their automated response.
I live in a house with 8 other people, we are pretty sure that I have just a sinus infection, but if it’s going to to take this long to know if I have covid, they should have told me up front.
The site boasts that I would have my results in 24-48 hours. I took the test Thursday morning. It’s Sunday afternoon. Can you imagine if I was not able to work from home and I was having to take sick days in order to avoid possibly spreading Covid-19 to other people?
