TEMPERANCE RX 🧘🏾♀️ | One of the most difficult parts of life is understanding and achieving “balance”; taking a little from here & a little from there to maintain equity and harmony. Temperance’s upright implications generally speak to seeking stability while stepping outside of our comfort zones to feel more well-rounded. Temperance Rx takes on the more Sagittarian aspects of the card, emphasizing recklessness and taking things to the extreme. Pushing ourselves to the limit of our physical, mental & spiritual limitations only leads to a harder recovery (if any at all) down the line. Just because we can doesn’t mean we should. Staying present with our emotions and actions calls on us to be of two consciousnesses (calling in The Lovers & Gemini) so as not to fall too deep one way & neglect the rest. When it comes up in our readings, we are being asked to reflect on where we’ve been doing too much and/or too little, and pick up the slack where it’s needed. Staying present & grounded is constant work, and Temperance Rx’s presence in our spreads can be a warning that we’ve been going too far in one direction & need to make some shifts.
Used the Pink Sands candle for my reading today. Not really sure how I feel about it, the scent is a bit grapefruiy. It seemed an appropriate choice as I did a reading with a specific /friendship/ in mind. She doesn’t respect me, and I’ve basically been on the fence about cutting her out of my life.
Past, Two of Wands, reversed: personal goals, inner alignment, fear of unknown, lack of planning. This is really interesting because in the past I helped this friend with a lot of life shit she was going through. I helped her with her goals and alignment, helped get her over fears, helped her plan.
Present, Temperance, reversed: imbalance, excess, self healing, realignment. Again, interesting. There’s definitely an imbalance, she spends all of her time with her girlfriend and ignores her friends. I hope she’s going through self healing right now, but I also kind of doubt it. I feel like she’s in her current situation for attention.
Future, The Emperor: authority, establishment, structure, a father figure. Maybe she’ll get her shit sorted out. Maybe her issues are from her dad. Who knows.
Final Thoughts: This really didn’t give me a ton of insight, so I might try the same focus tomorrow with a different candle, because I am trying to figure out which is the correct scent for me.
Since the full moon is coming up, I thought I’d share my favorite full moon and new moon tarot spreads. I have found these to be incredibly helpful and I hope they serve you <3
*New Moon*
Since the new moon is the ideal time to plant new seeds, set intentions, and draw in fresh energy, ask:
What energy do I need to bring forward and move towards right now?
Then, shuffle your deck and find the two cards on either side of The Fool. This is the energy you need to draw in and focus on right now.
Here’s an example:
This is telling me I need to move towards and face my wounds/dark side/bad habits, particularly compulsive or addictive behaviors. Temperance reversed tells me to look at the places where I am unbalanced, going to excess/extremes, or overindulging. To put it bluntly, I need to deal with my shit :) gotta love how brutally honest tarot can be!
*Full Moon*
Since the full moon is the perfect time to reflect and release what doesn’t serve us, ask:
What do I need to let go of right now?
Then shuffle your deck and find the two cards on either side of the Death card. This represents what you need to release and walk away from right now.
Here’s another example:
Though the King of Cups and The Magician are usually very positive cards, in the context of this reading, I am being told to let go of obsessively trying to “make it happen” (The Magician) and to stop letting my emotional whims rule me (King of Cups). I am being called to detach from situations I am overly emotionally attached to and trying to control.
Needs all their friends to be friends even if they obviously don’t like each other
always trying to set people up because they think they’re a good match maker
is actually in a relationship that’s super awful but acts like they’re “relationship goals” because their partner does something considerate once a month
gives advice constantly but doesn’t listen to anyone else’s
goes on massive shopping sprees as therapy and then gets rid of everything the next time they “need a new start
Temperance is all about keeping your balance and staying in control of your emotions.
This 14th card of the Major Arcana and associated with the Fire sign Sagittarius shows us a giant angel with massive wings spread wide standing with one foot in a clear blue stream or pond and the other up on the grassy bank, a soft golden glow emanating from his/her head. Calmly and…
The Lovers reversed + Ace of Coins + Temperance reversed
Happy Sunday!! I’m back with the Sunday set up and this week (Apr. 15th to Apr. 21), the theme is “Don’t choke the seeds”. As we go through life, there are always desires that we want manifested into the physical realm. However, we must make sure that we have done our part to create a habitable environment for those desires. Make sure that you are not keeping habits, people, and things in your living field that could be blocking your blessings.
The Lovers reversed signals imbalance, self gratification, separation. The Lovers are a symbol of unity between parties, but when the card is in reverse, the harmonious energies that could be are absent. There is a degree of disruption in our relationships that needs to be examined. This disruption could be in our relationships with other people or with ourselves as individuals. This week is a good time to treat every relationship like a bridge and perform an inspection. They should be built out of love and truth, and remember that bridges should be two way paths. Give as much as you request. What you offer may not be exactly the same as what you request, but it should be equivalent.
Ace of Coins signals seed, manifestation, new venture. This ace signals new opportunities in the material realm. Out of the three cards here, this card bears a positive message. However, it’s appearance between the other two cards can be a sign of what we risk if we don’t review some things in our living space. Coins are connected to the physical, and the physical can be our bodies, our finances, our health, and/or our physical surroundings. Physical manifestations can be some of the hardest to bring forth, and they can also be the hardest to remove. Go into this week making sure that you are planting seeds that will manifest truth, love, and understanding in your life. And make sure you aren’t planting anything else.
Temperance reversed signals indulgence, excessiveness, discord. The ability to find the middle path in life is something that can be worked on during this week. While there might be an emphasis on reviewing the physical this week, let’s not forget that which is in the physical can correspond with that which is in the spiritual. Temperance reversed is a sign that we should think about how we’re expending our energy this week and where we might be neglecting ourselves. When our internal aspects are thrown out of whack, it can lead to our external aspects being thrown off. This message connects with the Lovers card being reversed in this way. Another key value that we have to exercise is balancing self and the other, selfishness and selflessness. Find a balance between considering others while also practicing self care.
Those are the messages for this week.
Remember to take what resonates and leave what doesn’t
