Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness - "Goose Chase"

Synopsis:

After Zeng quits his job at the Jade Palace, Po tries to cheer up the weepy goose by telling him that he could be a kung fu master.

Characters:

Who was asking for a Zeng episode?

Both Zeng and Shifu have their reasons to be angry at each other. You can understand Shifu's frustration with Zeng when instead of delivering the message which may save his friend's life, the goose is eating noodles. Especially when you consider Zeng can fly up to the palace and return to eat.

But you also feel for Zeng being unappreciated. Besides, I don't know how it was back then in feudal China but most carriers can't just read and know if what they carry is important or not.

The best drama is when two people are somewhat in the right. If one of them was 100% wrong that would've been just frustrating to watch.

It's sweet that Zeng wants to do it not only for himself but also because he feels guilty.

But I have to say when he got the Furious Five to show up in less than a minute when it took him and Po almost a day, I call bullshit. Couldn't they be on the mission nearby?

Xinxi is cute and I love him!

Great episode!

Villain: Temutai is angry because he wasn’t able to conquer China, so he and his army want to kill Xinxi. Simple but effective. Also, the army men get some good lines.

Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness - "Mouth Off"

Episode 59 overall

Synopsis:

Shifu suggests that Po should take a vow of silence to help him focus, but he has problems keeping his mouth shut. So he uses Mantis' paralyzing moves to paralyze his vocal cords, which ends up causing trouble with Temutai's army.

Characters:

This episode tackles one of Po's most well known traits, talkativeness. It's a lot better scenario then making up a flaw he didn't had before. I love how Shifu explains that there's nothing wrong with talking, but it can be distracting. That's a good way to make Po learn something and not lose on of his most endearing qualities.

Mantis continues to be my favorite character from the show. I love his honesty and sass. He's a bit of a jerk, but genuinely believes in Po and helps him.

I love this one! If you like Mantis, you’ll probably like this episode!

Villain: Temutai wants to start a war over a petty dispute? That’s Temutai for you. His sons Chulun and Bataar have cute designs. Kind of weird we didn't see them before, like during the kung fu competition for kids. He took his nephew but not his sons? They weren't thought up yet. Also, Chulun doesn't have his horns yet but looks to be around the same age as his brother. He's a late bloomer!

Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness - "The Kung Fu Kid"

Episode 22 Season 1

Synopsis:

When a Kung Fu prodigy named Peng arrives at the Jade Palace, Po's enthusiasm begins to sour when he gets a little jealous of the attention being heaped onto the young master. Meanwhile, Temutai takes interest in Peng and plans to pit his own nephew Jing Mei against Peng. At the end, it is unveiled that Peng is Tai Lung's nephew.

Characters:

The begging is quite nice. For a change, Po and Temutai are getting along. If Temutai was less crazy and prone to aggression they could've been friends.

This is the introduction episode for Peng and I think is handled good. It isn't reviled until the very end that he is related to Tai Lung. People who saw the movie and the designs for snow leopards in the show could probably tell this was the case. Thanks to this decision we see his personality and people interact with him as his own person. He's shy at first, but as he opens up we learn he is quite a mister perfect, except for his anger issues. We'll see where his story goes.

Since Peng's introduction, Po's insecurity problems are turned up to eleven. Just after one day of Peng outperforming him, Po decides to lie to a ''kid'' (I will talk about Peng's questionable age later) that he's not welcome anymore and blames Shifu.

This is a new contender for the episode in which Po is just the worst. Thankfully it was a small part and not the whole episode through, so it's not as irritating. I'll choke it up to him expecting to be in the spotlight and overreacting.

Overall, decent episode. Not as great as the previous one. But not the worst ever.

Villains: Temutai and Jing Mei, his nephew, are listed as villains. To me Peng and Po are more of a villains. Jing Mei just fought Peng. Temutai was attacked by Peng and got pissed, and all out brawl break out. Peng and Temutai need anger management therapy. Po needs some therapy too.

Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness - "My Favorite Yao"

Episode 14 Season 1

Synopsis:

Po helps Shifu channel his "inner Po" as they try to keep a visiting Kung Fu Master named Master Yao out of Temutai's clutches.

Characters:

I usually don't talk about fight scenes, but I think I should change that. It's the first time I recall Shifu going on four legs and using the same kick as Tigress during the bridge fight in KFP1. His little ear twitches when he's angry or excited. And let's not forget this amazing dance scene. It's so fun to see Shifu learning to loosen up a bit and learn to cherish life.

Po this time was just trying to help Shifu and bond with him over the fact they're not so different.

Yao is a quirky size sweet old man. Sitting in a box for so long did a number on him. He just wanted one day of fun. And it episode definitely was. Also, I love how he gives Shifu head pats.

This is hands down the cutest episode so far.

Villain: Temutai was mostly confused and angry at Yao and Shifu for their crazy behavior. I don’t blame him.

Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness - "The Princess and the Po"

Episode 3 Season 1

Synopsis:

Po, Tigress and Mantis must escort an Emperor's daughter Mei Li on a peacemaking visit to the Qidan clan. Yet Princess Mei Li and her caravan are targeted by crocodile bandits led by Fung. They soon discover that Princess Mei Li will be given to the Qidan King Temutai as a servant in exchange for peace between the kingdoms.

Characters: In this episode, the cast consists of Po, Tigress, Mantis, and the princess. The dry humor and sarcasm of Tigress and Mantis contrast nicely with how optimistic Po is with trying to befriend the princess. I'll be honest. I can see people hating this episode just because of the princess alone and how bratty she was. I don't mind, that's the point of her character. Also, I love how Po just goes off on her for disrespecting his friends and causing trouble. She doesn't stop being sassy and mouthy. Just in the second half of the episode, she uses it in a good way. Standing up and motivating Po.

Going back to Tigress and Mantis, I love how they agree with what Po said. The only reason they didn't mouth out to her is that they have far more experience and training. Being taught discipline and respecting authority no matter what.

Also, Mantis is still fighting by targeting nerves and even gives Po a little massage, nice,

Villains: Temutai is the big bad, figuratively and literally. I like how he didn't agree to the duel right away. It's nice that he kept his promise.

Fung & the Croc Bandits showed up at the beginning and at the end. They stole all their stuff, partly because of the princess getting in the way. In the end, it's implied Po and the rest get their things back as the princess is a better person now and helps. Nice redemption and book-like ending.
