Teratosaurus, 1988
DinApril Day 8: A Triassic dinosaur.
Welcome to DinApril 2024! Our eighth day features a Triassic dinosaur: Plateosaurus trossingensis! This female has protected her babies from a predatory Teratosaurus by scratching its face with her hand claws, causing it to walk away in fear and pain.
Plateosaurus is probably the most famous Triassic dinosaur aside from Coelophysis, and it's my favorite prosauropod so of course it was my choice for the Triassic dinosaur. And yes, Teratosaurus did indeed live alongside P. trossingensis; fossils of it have been recovered from the Trossingen Formation in recent years.
Coloration inspired by the Safari LTD Carnegie Collection Plateosaurus from 1994, a toy that I actually own in real life.
