The Filipiniana Miku piece is going around and I felt like resharing this artwork I did back in 2018! A fanart of this beautiful magical girl-esque Maria Clara dress circa 1960s
💡 Photos I believe were taken from the book titled "Ramon Valera" published in 2005 to pay tribute to Ramon Valera's timeless terno pieces! 💗
Are there any Philippine traditional clothing you'd like to share pictures with us? I was wishing my state had traditional clothing and then I remembered you and got curious.
ohhhhhhhh
well!!☝️ this is going to be interesting because filipinos take our clothing seriously... so we have a lot of different kinds and styles of clothing based on history and geography.
while the idea of traditional clothing is the barong tagalog for men and the baro't saya or filipiniana for women, each region also has its own "indigenous" clothing based on the local tribes, of which there is many.
(putting this under the cut because i kept on seeing pretty pictures that i wanted to add....)
below is are some images of the barong tagalog, which is made of pineapple fiber. the embroidery can range from being fairly simple to incredibly detailed. i do not know of a single man that enjoys wearing this lol, since it is (apparently) very itchy and uncomfortable in hot weather.
Christmas outfit mode 🎄
Except it’s in the Terno style Filipiniana, just like what my mom wears 🇵🇭
Ew does he know that's made of glass? Don't eat that/silly

filipiniana x pearl body chains
[Image Description: Two drawings in cool blue colors. The one on the left shows a person wearing blue terno sleeves, while the one on the right wears a blue panuelo. Both have wave designs on the hems of their sleeves. They wear no shirts or bodices underneath, only body chains in multiple strings of white pearls draped across their torsos. /end ID]
