Sark! My friend! I have fun news!
So I’ve finally gotten around to taking a peek at the comics I’ve come across on my travels (mostly prowling dusty antique shops) and one of my Action Comics references a character called Terra-man. Who looks vaguely like a cowboy-wizard-guy. I have no clue who this character is! Have never heard of him before.
Honestly, glancing through and half-reading this comic is definitely wild. Theres identity-stealing and aliens and a shockingly-creepy superman mask. I don’t know if you’ve already covered it, but I thought I’d yap to you nonetheless about my findings.
The issue I’m talking about is action comics #470, but I also have #532 and #524, and a handful of batman comics as well.
Anyways, have a good day my friend!
Btw here’s an image of GL getting electrocuted, same comic just thought it was funny
Always a good time when bad things happen to Green Lantern!
But oh wow, Terra-Man, that dude is a trip. He came out of the 70s when DC was just trying whatever came to mind for supervillains, and there is some prime wacky shit there. Highlights include Blackrock, who is like Venom but powered by TV signals, and Vartox, who is just Sean Connery from the movie Zardoz.
Terra-Man is a cowboy who was abducted by aliens and became a space bounty hunter. I mean like, an actual cowboy-ass cowboy, this dude was born in 1878, but he's been traveling around the galaxy at relativistic speed that he's only aged 30 years in all that time. That's a wild bit of realistic space physics to staple onto a cowboy riding through space on a winged alien horse. He's got a space alien blasters that look like six-guns and shuriken spurs and probably like a laser lasso or something like that. He's so goofy, I love him so much. He's like if Star-Lord was really into Marty Robbins instead of Blue Swede.
They brought him back in post-crisis as just, like, a regular eco-terrorist who was only 25% cowboy and 0% space, very disappoint. I'm hoping DC brings him back at some point in the classic style.
Enjoy your haul, my friend! Bronze Age Superman was a lot of fun! Which Batman comics did you get?
