I was thinking about this theory, but I have no evidence for it. maybe it's more like a headcanon, anyway I wanted to share it.

I imagine the story like this:

I think Kris, Noelle and Dess. Or maybe Asriel was with them too. I don't know what could have happened there, but looking at the strange passions and hobbies of the kids in Deltarune, they could even evoke ghosts there. At least I think they met Gaster there.

Okay I know that sounds stupid but look

Gaster wants to come out of the void, he wants to put himself back together, but he can't do it alone. Therefore, he wants us to put him together. But we won't do it ourselves, of course. As Gaster knows we like games and we like secrets, After we found out about him, he made a game - his experiment. Thanks to this game, we get a character, Kris. Kris is not our self-insert character, just an ordinary kid, but that also makes sense.

During the meeting with Kris, Gaster showed that they have a mission and are becoming heroes. Kris will be with us until the end of the game, to Gaster's resurrection.

I think Gaster traded Kris's soul, Cyan Soul, for Red Soul, to us. Kris's soul is in a vessel that is in the hands of Gaster or Chara. But Kris could stand up anyway, right? So Gaster took Dess and said he would give her back at the end of the Game. Kris knows where Dess is, but they don't tell Noelle. Maybe Noelle knows it too, but can't understand it, doesn't want to take it into awareness? Who knows

Anyway, Kris has to go to the end of the Game and they'll get Dess back. they must go because we lead them as Soul. They have to go because they are heroes and save the world from the end of the world.

As they move forward, they put Gaster together. Together with Kris we contribute to Gaster's resurrection.
