Stolen Tesla Model S crashes, splits in half, and burns in Hollywood
News reports say that overnight, a Tesla Model S was stolen from a showroom in the Hollywood, California area and involved in a high speed pursuit by police. The car eventually hit other vehicles, was split in half by a traffic light pole, and managed to both land on top of another car and wedge itself into the wall of a building. Then, as if written for a movie script, the Model S caught on fire.

In this blog post on Tesla website, Elon Musk provides a precise and definitive answer to all the media that wrote misleading & click-baiting headlines on the few Model S that caught fire recently.
Reading the headlines, it is therefore easy to assume that the Tesla Model S and perhaps electric cars in general have a greater propensity to catch fire than gasoline cars when nothing could be further from the truth.
You must be so pissed off being in Musk's shoes, reading those headlines and knowing that a lot of people will take them seriously.
By this metric, you are more than four and a half times more likely to experience a fire in a gasoline car than a Model S! Considering the odds in the absolute, you are more likely to be struck by lightning in your lifetime than experience even a non-injurious fire in a Tesla.
Let things be clear OK?
Unfortunately, I highly doubt that news outlets will be as vocal on this blog post as they purposely were reporting the fires.
Of course, Tesla is addressing the concern going way further than any other company would, with a list of immediate measures. Among those:
First, we have rolled out an over-the-air update to the air suspension that will result in greater ground clearance at highway speeds.
"Over-the-air" update. For a car. That's insanely great.
So please, "journalists", be fair and enlighten in your criticism, stop throwing bullshit around and let Elon fucking Musk do what he's gotta do, you know, like changing the world.
