Darkness flooded the small alleyway, completely obliterating the squad of Heartless that had appeared in Radiant Garden’s streets. It continued to surge through the neighborhood even after fulfilling its purpose, much like a torrent of water, until it eventually leveled out and died away in cloudy wisps.
At the epicenter of the corrupt energies stood a figure covered in faintly glowing ice. Once the darkness had receded, the form shattered its frozen carapace, revealing a well-dressed young man. Cerulean orbs scoured the alley, searching for any remnants of Heartless.
In the wake of his attack, all that was left was a brown-haired girl. The male frowned, folding his arms and giving her a look.
“You’d best unhand me before I make you regret your decision...”
He’s currently being held still by two palace guards -- while he isn’t resisting, the air around him is cooling rapidly, and the gleam in his eyes suggests he’s getting ready to attack.
Okay, so after giving more thought to the issue (and getting suggestions from some dear friends), I’d like to try something before I put this blog on the shelf.
To determine the main muse of my next blog, I really·need your guys’ help. I have three different voices that I want to test out here to see where my preference lies. And before you suggest I just make a multi-muse blog -- I’m really not interested in that.
Anyway, instructions and information are below the cut.
If you’re at all interested in helping me out, reply·to this post with either 1 (one), 2 (two), or 3 (three) and I’ll write a short starter and we can try to have a quick back and forth interaction. Keep in mind that all voices are set in the Kingdom Hearts universe, and are all rough drafts at the moment. I’ll probably try to set the interaction in one of the game’s worlds -- otherwise I’ll set it in your muse’s homeland. Maybe.
ONE ::·Kaitou Nagano!
“Yeah, that’s me. Kaitou Nagano -- last of his people, blah blah blah. Like you haven’t heard this sob story before. After all, there are as many fallen worlds as there are shooting stars. Now buzz off.”
Wow, it’s Kaitou. Whoa, so new. While he’s mostly the same, his backstory is significantly different here -- rather than losing his home at an early age, it’s consumed when he’s a teenager, and this time, he’s the only·one that survives its destruction. Before the world is lost, his mother encases him in ice, preserving his body in its current state and protecting him from the suffocating darkness of the Lanes Between. After an undetermined amount of time (most likely more than a few years or even decades), he’s eventually found by Queen Shizuka and taken to Shinshoudo. This iteration of Kaitou is pretty bitter and lonely, and at first the hatred in him is very strong. Even if his body does not show it, his heart’s been stained by darkness due to the time he spent floating in the Lanes Between (despite his cryostasis, it leaked through the ice or something), and it’s feeding on his rage towards the Heartless. Rather than try to seal and confine the darkness, Shizuka instead teaches him to harness it proper while giving him counsel so that his emotions don’t fly out of control. After a few years, she decides he’s ready for the next step, and offers him two choices: stay in Shinshoudo and be offered a seat on her council of knights, or travel the worlds and gain his own experiences. He chooses the latter, and leaves the realm of spirits.
Personality wise, it’s a minor windback to before he develops relations with his friends. He’s not the arrogant and temperamental mage prodigy of Shinshoudo this time -- instead, he’s an irritable user of darkness struggling with his emotions and whether he wants to continue his path to revenge or try and let bygones be. His morals and ideals remain intact from his childhood days, where he was being raised to protect the Plains. He won’t hesitate to draw his sword in defense of the helpless, but if you try to play on his chivalrous naivete, you’re gonna get a dark bolt to the face.
TWO :: Alastor
“There is nothing left in this ragged heart but fury and wrath -- and it will not stop beating until I have revenge.”
Alastor follows the same backstory as Kaitou, up until The Eternal Plains are consumed by the Heartless. However, there’s no backup for the teen this time -- his mother perishes before sealing him in ice, and though he once again survives the destruction of his world, he is never found by Shizuka and taken to Shinshoudo. With nothing to preserve his body and block out the darkness of the Lanes Between, Kaitou’s tale is all but over -- however, whether it be due his resilient spirit or his newfound rage for the Heartless, his heart doesn’t succumb to the darkness. Instead, it embraces it, takes it in, and lets it flood his entire being. After years of saturating his body in darkness, he basically becomes one with the element, and while his mind and heart still remain intact, they’ve·become so corrupted that all he can think of is utterly eradicating every trace of the Heartless--
And he won’t have any problems with that, for it is the staggering darkness that he now controls which attracts the vile creatures everywhere he goes, allowing him to indulge in his furious quest for vengeance wherever he goes, consequences be damned.
Personality-wise, he’s not quite·a mindless drone hellbent on revenge. Although he has spent many years drifting in the Lanes Between, he’s still·a human, and must keep himself well-fed and well-rested in order to continue his crusader-like rampage. His interests are all skewed towards fighting Heartless however, and he shows little enthusiasm in most other things besides his old hobbies -- cooking (to sustain himself for the next fight) and reading (texts on darkness or Heartless to familiarize himself with the enemy and his powers). He’s become very selfish and single-minded, caring not for the opinions of others unless they align perfectly with his desires. If anyone tries to oppose him, he’ll give them the courtesy of a warning to stay out of his way before adding them to his ever-growing list of enemies.
THREE :: Nathan Wach
Hello! The name’s Nathan. Unlike those other two brooding gentlemen, I’m more of a party-goer! My hobbies include swinging hammers, lighting fires, and squeezing my favorite pair of bellows until I’m all winded out!·Haha, get it? Winded out? ...Hello?
Nathan Wach, the fourth of six sons from a world called Bezirk. All Bezirkians are born with prodigal skills in the forge, and he’s no different. With a chiseled physique and a delicate artisan’s touch, he carries out his family’s tradition of crafting fine weapons and armor. ...However, money’s been short, and when you’ve got a whole world·full of blacksmiths, competition can be fierce. Against his family’s wishes, Nathan has decided to forge·(heh) his own path and travel across the stars, taking his wares with him in hopes of raking in as much munny as possible. ...Oh, and·‘making the family proud’ and·‘creating masterpieces’ and stuff.
But he’s mostly in it for the munny.
Nathan’s laid-back and easy-going, but hasn’t had the most success with his plan to get rich quick -- the materials needed to forge high quality weapons aren’t cheap, and he didn’t take much with him besides his hammer and forge. Still, he’s pretty happy to be traveling the worlds, even if he has to hitchhike across the galaxy and live off of pennies. He can come off as a bit of a slacker and less than serious about life and his goals, but he’s very dedicated to his craft and won’t let anyone belittle his skill without letting them see his hammer up close and personal.
Heh. Get it. Showing off his ha--
Well, that’s it for the muses. Your help would be appreciated, so remember to reply·to this post with your choice of muse.
