Lean is a combination of cough medicine (promethazine), codeine and usually sprite, with some sweeties thrown into the mix. It gained popularity in the 1990's as a cultural accessory via its association with rap and hip hop. I found that it provided a decent enough ride, lifting my mood for much of an otherwise mundane afternoon.
