Big Changes

The Cacturne signed as he exited the morning train taking in the groggy city air. This city was certainly different from the one he lived in. Everyone seemed in a rush to get to and from places and everything was noisy and bright, and all the signs and shops easily distracted the cactus. He slid into his hand into the pocket hidden within the black silk and gold adorned Chief Elect cloak he had recently been assigned with as his new uniform, feeling the invite still safely tucked away he sighed and patted the pocket before making his way to the ABL. It had been awhile since he had last seen his dear friend, Oriel. Both had been busy with their jobs and he was a bit ashamed he wasnât able to watch her matches and cheer her on. He sighed entering the building, tapping his claws together he approached the front desk to inquire if Oriel was there, and if she was available to talk. He waited patiently for someone at the desk to assist him, but some movement in the corner of his eye caught his attention. He walked over to the Gardevoir at first thinking she was another fighter and was going to ask her if she had seen Oriel. However once he got a good look at her face he was aw struck at the changes she had gone through.
âI almost didnât recognize you! I like what you did with your hair, though you seem a bit bluer in color than i remember, and your skins much paler, I hope you arenât coming down with something. The new clothes are also really nice, you look like youâd fit right in with Rama and other mages. Sorry if iâm blabbering, its just quite a site to see, you really do look grea-â
once his eyes fell on the scars the Cacturne fell silent. He slowly raised his hand to brush some of her hair from her face to expose the scar on her cheek. âIts so nice to see you, Oriel. Truely, but-â
âWhat did this? Did it happen in a battle? Or did someone strike you?â The Cacturne frowned and furrowed his brows. He was concerned seeing so many scars on her. He knew it had been months since they had last seen one another. and they avoided talking about work in their lettersâŠbut the number of these scars seemed excessive to the Cacturne. He was concerned, maybe this line of work was more dangerous than Tex originally thought.
