Okay, so sometimes I watch video compilations of my favorite celebrities being funny in interviews

and a while back, I watched an interview with Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan when they were promoting their movie Anthropoid

the interviewer asked them what their favorite emoji was, and Cillian said that he prefers to spell words correctly

that confused me for the longest time because it made zero sense

and I’m only now considering the fact that he thought that she meant text talk

I know this may not be some great epiphany for others, but it’s been bothering me for 2 fucking years

you know, all those times my english teachers would tell me to use context clues to figure out unfamiliar vocabulary, i never would've expected that i'd end up using this skill to figure out unfamiliar acronyms instead

just now i encountered the completely unfamiliar acronym "cmiiw" and it only took me about a minute or so of staring at it and the surrounding words before the phrase "correct me if i'm wrong" suddenly popped into my head

So it was brought to my attention that when people start to reply to me with “pfft” in conversations it means they wish I stopped talking to them.

I realize this probably outs me as a wizened ancient old troll, but every time one of my younger co-workers texts me "ofc" literally all I can think about is how on all the message boards I used to participate in, that meant "of fucking course" so that's how I read it still, and it tickles me. Like they're just super enthusiastic about everything. 😂😂

My grandma just butt dialed me. Of course I had to explain to her what “butt dialing” is and then she proceeded to ask me what all of this “texting slang” means. I will admit, some of them I didn’t even know.
