you know, all those times my english teachers would tell me to use context clues to figure out unfamiliar vocabulary, i never would've expected that i'd end up using this skill to figure out unfamiliar acronyms instead

just now i encountered the completely unfamiliar acronym "cmiiw" and it only took me about a minute or so of staring at it and the surrounding words before the phrase "correct me if i'm wrong" suddenly popped into my head

I read Ty as Tankyu even though I know it's Thank You, for example. These are the main two I do it with.

Michigan Text Abbreviations

Here in Michigan, we do things our own way. Clearly, the weather takes its cue from us, last week was nearly 60, this week it’s barely 30. So why shouldn’t texting? Text Abbriviations

To be honest, I still have no idea what the fuck most text abbreviations mean, so whenever I scroll past one I’ll make up my own translation and its usually lame.  Like, I wish I could say they were funny even, but no, they’re totally lame.  The abbreviation could be “afs” and I’d probably make it ‘ask future street’ or something.
