i think we all are under appreciating just how dumb the rescue bots were. like yeah they’re really good at their jobs but they were plain useless for almost everything else.

heatwave deadass could not even read a math problem. like he for real held the book upside down and tried to read it out loud like that. he even said the words "upside down two" and didn't get what the issue was. graham had to flip the book over for him to get it.

blades suggested retractable buildings as a way to stop humans from getting stuck on top of buildings. boulder had to point out that if those were a thing they’d crush everyone inside. he also claimed the earth holiday with the "lit up tree" is arbor day.

chase became mayor. he sucked. single-handedly he almost blew up all of griffin rock because of his bad decisions and he also lost the keys to all the public spaces. he quit on his first day and everyone cheered because he was that bad.

boulder decided to break into a zoo at night to surprise the team with a pet. his second suggestion after realizing he couldn't use his electronic scan to open the cage was to shut the power off. and cybertron definitely had pets so he has no excuses here.

my point is the rescue bots are so incredibly stupid and that's why everyone loves them and treats them like very small children.

heatwave and optimus are such an underrated comedic duo. every single time they are in the same vicinity as each other everything immediately goes to shit. this is i think because they are both primus's blorbos, and in true blorbo fashion, must suffer. greatly. anyway this leads to some very fun interactions such as:

heatwave, newly appointed leader of like every rescue bot, on his first day as a secret alien on earth, immediately deciding he wants to leave right after accepting optimus's orders. and when he can't do that, he starts talking to people because he has no fear i guess.

optimus prime, leader of the cybertronian race, chosen by primus, and guy who says "nothing much, double dutch" in response to an extremely casual greeting in a very formal situation in front of his child (heatwave), presumably to embarrass said child.

heatwave, recent student of optimus's old friend who is a respected and decorated war veteran as well as a long time rescue bot, calling optimus (WHO IS FRIENDS WITH THIS GUY) just to bitch at him.

optimus prime, protector of civilians and humanity, fully prepared to watch a game show (created by blades and chase) in which a human child gets electrocuted. (there was a misunderstanding involving the term "lightning round" in trivia).

heatwave, rescue team leader, assigned to protect humans, straight up just driving off a cliff into the ocean with no warning, with his human partner who is screaming, all to win a race.

optimus prime, by now nearly a godlike figure, adopted father of all the rescue bots, also a terrible communicator, ghosting his kids for four years (get it. ghost. bc he died.) and then not explaining ever.

like literally i could go on but they are total messes and it's hilarious. where is all the content of incredibly chaotic and weird father daughter bonding for heatwave and optimus. they are so funny.

(yes i meant to type daughter bc heatwave gives off eldest daughter energy ok. no other reason for the shit he pulls.)

ok in that longass rescue bots headcanons list i made this one headcanon ive been dying to talk about, which is that i think quickshadow was part of elita one’s squadron on cybertron, and that the group has since been disbanded. my reasoning:

to me, since optimus and ultra magnus are both in tfp, it feels natural to assume elita exists. i dont think she’s dead, although perhaps the war bots think she is, similar to how they thought shockwave was.

also, since shockwave’s backstory is similar to his in g1 i’m doing the same for elita’s. just like in g1, she and her squad of lesbians girlbosses stayed on cybertron to hold down autobot territory, and to fight shocky.

anyway elita's team in g1 seemed to specialize in espionage and close combat, which is what quickshadow does. she would fit right in with the group. as a highly trained warrior and someone who is personally close to optimus, her having a past with elita one and in the war makes sense.

i think quickshadow was definitely a rescue bot first, but presumably as the war took off she allied herself with the autobots. at the rescue academy she trained as a special ops bot, which helped her survive whatever happened to the other rescue bots, and eventually led her to win the favor of autobot high command. this lead to her rapidly climbing the ranks until she served alongside elita one.

at some point in my mind the team was disbanded, either because of lack of resources or they split up to become smaller groups or join other teams. quickshadow became a proper undercover agent, the one we see in the show. by then it's clear optimus trusts her, as he arranged for her vehicle scan, gave her tech to hijack groundbridges, and let her keep her rescue bots insignia. she also was constantly changing names and identities, so she's been undercover a lot. this level of trust hints at a personal history, like her being close to elita.

quickshadow is also a solo agent by the time we meet her, again showing she's highly respected and trusted by optimus, and presumably other members of autobot high command. optimus put a lot of work into keeping the rescue bots secret and safe, but quickshadow has clearly been a part of the war for a very long time, possibly since the beginning. hightide was optimus's friend since the early days, so it could be possible for quickshadow to have known elita or optimus before everything. that would explain the freedom she has that no other character is given.

anyways yeah new lore, if you guys wanna know more abt this just ask! (please ask i can rant abt my lore and theories for hours)

i have come up with a new, extremely self indulgent AU for tfrb:

basically what happens is each individual character in tfp accidentally finds out about the rescue bots, whether it's through a ground bridge mishap, an intel scouting mission, even a situation where they get rescued.

this starts out with mostly autobots, because i assume griffin rock is either in autobot territory or a neutral/unclaimed area (or it's off the grid and nobody knows about it) (i think the last one is the funniest), but the decepticons also learn about them eventually.

now. here's where the funny/self indulgent part begins. none of them know anyone else knows. the autobots AND decepticons all assume they're the only one who knows about these bots, and that the team has been trying to live a normal, calm life away from the war.

team prime doesn't know optimus and bumblebee already know, and the decepticons don't know that these guys have connections to the war. and of course, the rescue bots always manage to worm their way into every. single. bot's. spark. all of them individually grow to care about the rescue bots, and independently decide to keep them secret. nobody wants their new friends to get hurt!

anyways shenanigans of course ensue because it's very hard to keep a previously extinct group a secret from all of your friends, and since everybody knows but doesn't know everybody knows it becomes a lot of ridiculous sneaking around and badly lying to everyone.

the rescue bots are SUPER confused by all these bots who keep showing up, but they pretty much just assume that someone spilled their secret and everyone after are all showing up to meet them. eventually i think they would start to figure everything out, but they don't fully comprehend that everyone has been trying to hide them from each other until some big reveal happens.

the way this pans out is probably the end of the war honestly, because again; no one wants these guys to get hurt, physically or emotionally, and if that means having a ceasefire so be it.

Cybertronian Sorcery: A Lost Art

⚠️This is a Personal Headcanon, using lore from TFP, Bay's Last Knight movie, Quintessa [TLK] and personal Ideas and HCs ⚠️

In the early times of Cybertron, it was fabled that there existed an order of what most stories would call mages, sorcerers and sorceressess.

These mages were spinners of Energon, weavers of divine energies, a gift of Primus by which they could not only reshape reality around them, but also see beyond it.

It was said that Primus had blessed them with power directly from the AllSpark. So that they might see not just their own world, but those beyond. Worlds past, current, and yet to be, worlds alternate to theirs, similar and more.

Each wielded a relic which carried a portion of their Spark, and a portion of their power, a Focus by which they could reshape the world as they saw fit.

In the first Eras, they were key to the reshaping of their world, of crafting the landscapes, the wildlife and even at first, the very inhabitants of the planet.

There was no limit to the extent of transformation by which they too could go through, able to adapt to what was necessary. Forms smaller, bigger, agile, stronger, or more.

This art, of weaving reality around them, was also a target on their backs as time came, and the ages of conquest began.

Used as soldiers, medics and more, their numbers dwindled, slowly but surely. That by the time these conquests and crusades ended, there were only a few hundred left, in comparison to the once hundred thousands in their ranks.

After which, came the Hunts.

As tensions rose in Cybertron, with the change of politics, religion and more, the Mages were persecuted, seen as not blessed guardians, oracles or shapers of the world.

Instead, they were now seen as vile witches who could do as they pleased, able to instead warp reality on a whim and no one would be none the wiser.

It is said that none survived, the relics they once weilded now on display in the restricted section of the Iacon archives, where they remain heavily monitored.

But there are whispers that their teachings remain shrouded in myth, found within storybooks and folktales, some argue that they never existed, and were a mere ghost story, the relics on display entirely replicas to fulfill these stories.

But none can truly say for sure.

But what all can agree, that the power they did use, was one to be feared and respected.
