Cute little tf!Scott (and kinda tf!Pyro) headcanon!
Scott's body temperature is actually quite high according to the second law of thermodynamics (I'm a nerd, sorry)
It's been a hot minute since I took biology but the gist of it is like how refrigerators get hot while producing cold because it takes a lot of energy, and energy makes heat
He makes the air around him cold, which helps him not completely overheat, but it also makes him feel warmer to touch by comparison
So Scott feels like a space heater, and every dragon that discovers this wants to immediately be cuddled up in his coat
Most of the baby dragons are better behaved if Scott's holding them because it's comfy and who wants to move and be mischievous when they're comfy? This makes everyone think he's some kind of dragon whisperer (except for Maddy, who knows exactly what's going on but doesn't say anything because it pisses Pyro off and that's funny).
Combined with his narcolepsy making him just crash wherever he is sometimes, it's a very common sight to see Scott lying somewhere in the academy with four or five dragons cuddled up to him for warmth.
On the flip side, every dragon except Aurora just HATES Pyro for the same reason. Heat disperses, so all the heat they produce leaves them pretty quickly. Their body temperature isn't cold or anything, but if the air around him is constantly heating and dispersing, they'll feel cold by comparison. The dragons get close and it feels warm, but when they want to cuddle, he's not! The horror!
Aurora is the only one willing to sit in their lap, the rest just hover nearby and growl if he tries to touch them. Again, Maddy is a dragon expert and knows why this is happening but it's so funny to watch Pyro suffer that she doesn't tell him
