Had to remake a tumblr after all these years to share this, but a friend of mine printed, bound, and gifted me a copy of @not-poignant’s ROTG fanfic “The Golden Age That Never Was” and I screamed. Can’t wait to reread this for the millionth time. 💙🖤❄️

Ok i cant keep it in my soul for any longer. WHY ARENT MORE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THE GOLDEN AGE THAT NEVER WAS?? i know its a bit of an older fanfic now but I’ve read all your stories and all your fanfics (im absolutely obsessed btw) and never in my life have i ever seen anywhere such chemistry as between TGATNW Pitch and Jack. That fanfic altered my brain chemistry, remoleculerized my being and changed my life trajectory. If you have any, just ANY scraps of tgatnw pitch/jack content that you forgot about or something, just know theres at least one person out here thats feral for it. (I would die for a pitch perspective of any kind)

(Also tgatnw pitch kind of reminds me of utb gary??? In the way that they’re both most peak alpha males i can think of)

Tbh people were talking about it a lot more when I was writing it! You can always check out the TGATNW tag for the kinds of things we were talking about and the fanart and stuff :D

I have such a soft spot for that fic though, like, I think it's probably my favourite thing I ever wrote for The Rise of the Guardians, and it has some of my favourite worldbuilding. It's one of those 'wow I really should've put 80% of that story and worldbuilding into an original novel because I think it would've done something good for my writing career' but I'm also very chuffed that it gets to be something in fanfiction that we all just get enjoy however and whenever we want. :D

Unfortunately I'm a very WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) author in that I don't write lots of drafts or scraps of things and leave them on my computer. If I have something that's worth sharing, I will find a way to share it!

And yeah I definitely have different character archetypes I like writing, and Pitch is very similar to Gary! Even down to both of them having lost a loved one and walling themselves off emotionally to any new relationships as a result of that, and hurting the people around them because of it. Literally such a *clenches fist* baller archetype :D I'm definitely not done with it!

Soldier in training Jack Overland is approaching the day of his initiation. Finally he’ll learn how to fight back against the living darkness and serve the Tsar and Tsarina Lunanoff. More importantly, maybe it will get him closer to Royal Admiral Kozmotis Pitchiner, Jack’s hero, champion of the people. If only anything ever worked out the way it should.

I discovered this fic (and FTDWR) by chance years ago despite not being in this fandom and was blown away by the worldbuilding and plot. i know im years late but this story has always stuck with me and i wanted to commemorate it

Not sure why Jack is glowing, but he is. Not sure why Pitch likes it, but he does... I can never decide if I actually ship this or not, but I do like the dynamic between these guys. The sketch for this is from forever ago and I finally did something with it! Somehow it reminds me of an epic blackice fic I read a while back. From Darkness We Rise. Very long, very involved, and definitely an awesome read. Mad love to @not-poignant Let's just say it was inspired by that one ^^;

Hey so I absolutely adore The Golden Age that Never Was and the overall atmosphere and incoming h/c and whump are just yes. so much yes. so I made a playlist after a while of not making them.  

Most of them have really fitting lyrics so I’ve tried to find lyric videos and they are all over the place in regards to POV, but you can probably figure it out :3 I’m quite satisfied with how it turned out. Oh and the song in Latvian is literally called “slow burn” and it was playing in my work while I was making this playlist (heh, my work is nice like that) so I chortled and put it in. Translation is after the tracklist. And heal by tom odell is there just because i like it so much. i regret nothing.

SLOW BURN the rivers flow up to the mountaintops roots wash out by the dry shores and the boy asked of himself if you take something, bring it back at one point

the morning comes from childhood to home (?? don't understand this one either) cranberry bushes already grow among memories over the road the footprints left my by life how very dear and mine is this sadness

and now I'm warming/heating on slow heat/slow burn

the shadows blow away and the swelter cools a little bit lukewarm but very calm is my heart the language that was once erupting cools in each glacier there is a sparkling (/spark-like) beginning but a burning end
