In The Good Place Season 3 Episode 11 “Chidi Discovers The Time-Knife”, The Judge is talking about her short time on Earth. She says, “[Earth] is terrible everywhere and always… it’s hot, and it’s crowded, but somehow also cold and lonely”. The camera then cuts to a wide shot of Chidi and Eleanor. They simultaneously smile at each other, and then Eleanor looks away, and Chidi sighs and looks down. Why did Chidi and Eleanor (and Tahani and Jason) get better over and over again in Michael’s Neighborhood? Why did they help each other in ways they had never helped anyone on Earth, that terrible, awful, hot, crowded, cold and lonely planet? Can you imagine what the Good Place wouldve been like if Jason was really Jianyu? Like....

Can you even imagine the beauty that wouldve been Chidi and Eleanor helping the silent and shy Buddhist Monk open up while he helps Chidi teach Eleanor about morals and how to be a better person. He'd still be not supposed to be in the good place because he didnt really do much as a person except meditating so he couldnt get any points and he'd lose some points for not saying kind things when his fellow monks were in need of comforting or something, but God would i love to see that set up.
