Today I participated in the #GLAAD #SpiritDay which is explained in the third pic. The TL;DR of it all is you wear purple in solidarity against bullying, specifically against members of the LGBTQ+ community. As a member of the community, and someone that was bullied in school, it only felt right to show support and solidarity. As stated in a post from a few weeks back, on Coming Out Day, I’m a lucky member of the community. I can hide in plain site and am not nearly as worried about anyone trying to “fix” or condemn me and my sexuality, or lack thereof. I’m also incredibly lucky to be a part of two wonder fraternities that accept men for who they are and don’t try to change or shame them. I also had a heated conversation earlier about religious people and their views on homosexuality, and it reminded me why a day like this was important to have. Even tho major strides have been gained, the struggle isn’t over. Kids are still beat up daily for this. Some are too terrified to come out for fear of homelessness, rejection, or god knows what else. And I just want to tell them that you have plenty of people on your side, and it does get better. I promise. #Awareness #CulturalAwareness #LGBT #AcePride #ItGetsBetter #DontWorry #ΦΜΑ #iAmSinfonia #THAGBO #ΣΛΒ #BeBetterBeBeta
