Ok soooo.... is it viable to learn 4 languages at once????
Thai is just..... she’s so cool... and I love her🥺
Like I don’t want to just be A1 in every language I’m interested in but am so tempted to add another language to my study routine. And I know this will slow down the progression of one or two others because of time management and whatever but ughhwhahsjak I just love so manyyyyy languages:(((
I’ve avoided adding Thai to my routine because I’ve heard that the writing system is extremely difficult and I want to spend enough time on it to fully understand it. But I also worry about if I don’t start it now will I ever have enough time? Like what if I never get to learn it? I don’t wanna lose the chance :/
One thing I did wrong when I started learning Thai is that I assumed it would be like Korean. That there would be an alphabet with the consonants and vowels and that’s the basics.
Thai said no, what are you on.
When I first started learning Thai I used thaipod101 and a website that had the 44 consonants.
But as I watched thaipod101, the vowels were at the front, back, on top it made no sense and each site gave me a different meaning for each consonants or syllable.
I have started reading read Thai in 10 days by Arthur juyaso and my goodness the way the book is explaining things. It actually makes sense.
What I know so far Thai has
44 consonants (2 obsolete) but there are only 20 consonant sounds)
21 vowel symbols.
4 tone marks
A syllable has 2 - 4 constituents. Initial consonant, a vowel, final consonant and or tone mark.
However, vowels can be located in front, after, above, underneath or enclosing the initial consonant.
Also, the location of most vowels are fixed. This can be used as an indicator to when a syllable is finished.
Note, even though a vowel might be in front of the initial consonant when it is pronounced, it is not said first.
Also, like how the Greek use a for alpha, b for beta like a consonant acrophonics in Thai they do the same thing so g = chicken. And I’m not going to lie the Thai g looks like a chicken lol
This is just the basics but I feel like I have more of an understanding of how the Thai language works. I’m excited to learn more. Ignore my handwriting ☺️ I don’t have fancy handwriting like others.
Day 22/100
2019.08.13
I recently started getting into Photography again and my father gave me this really old Polaroid camera and bought me some film for it, needless to say, I love taking pictures with it!
I also managed to finally clean up my desk and I have to say, it feels amazing being able to work freely and not having to worry about a cluttered desk!
Further, then that, I am pleasantly surprised by the amount of studying I got done today!
Maths ~ 1hr 20min
I started with Chapter 1 of my Senior book and I have been working my way through the first topic. So far it’s going fairly well, but I know it won’t last.
Latin ~ 1hr 30min
Reviewed lots of Vocab and did some light Grammar!
Spanish ~ 3hr 20 min
I got a lot of Spanish done today! Besides finishing a chapter of my school book, I also did a lot of Duolingo and reviewed some Flashcards.
In addition to that, I also had a long talk with a Native speaker, where we talked in both German and Spanish! I really enjoyed that, since I barely get to talk Spanish.
Thai ~ 1hr
I have finally found some good resources to study Thai and hopefully, from now on I will be able to actually make some progress learning Thai!
Today I learned the following words:
สวัสดี – ค่ะ - Hello
สบายดีไหม – ครับ / ค่ะ - How are you?
สบายดี – ค่ะ - Fine, thank you
ขอบคุณ – ค่ะ - Thank you
ใช่ – ค่ะ - Yes
ไม่ – ค่ะ - No
อาจจะ – ค่ะ - Maybe
ไม่เป็นไร – ค่ะ - Never mind/it’s okay
ผมฉันพูดภาษาไทยไม่ได้ – ค่ะ - I can’t speak Thai
กรุณาพูดช้าช้า – ค่ะ - Please speak slowly
Korean ~ 2hr 40min
I worked in all of my four Korean books, did some additional Flashcards and FINALLY after a long long time some Duolingo lessons! I am very pleased with how my Korean is progressing, but I still could work a lot harder! I only did 5 words today, because I reviewed a lot of words.
As always here are the words I learned for my LAPTOP1000 challenge:
지나다 - to pass, elapse, go on
많이 - a lot (adverb)
시간 - time, hour(s)
인간 - a human being, a person
사실 - the truth, a fact
Words from the Vocab lists in ITALIC are words I already knew

I have so so so many questions to ask you. Which school do you attending? And what camera did you use to take picture? Is it iphone6? Any tips to learn English? Are you learning English by yourself? ..I need to stop right now or else I can't lol And again, Thanks for being here I'm so glad ( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈ )

My first Thai learning book has arrived. I tried learning Thai with thaipod101 on YouTube and that gave me a headache, didn’t understand anything and it was very confusing. So, I bought this book Read Thai in ten days by Arthur Juyaso.
We will see how it goes, I’m so excited. 😆
The first 10/11 must know Thai words.
https://youtu.be/vpGdD9fgWsw
Men - Krub Women - Kha/Ka
Women/ men say that at the end of a sentence. Polite.
2. Sa-wa-dee
Good morning/ evening/night/ Hi/Hello
3. Sabaai-Dee-mai
How are you? (Formal)
4. Pben-ngai-bang
What’s up? (How are you? Informal/friends)
5. Khob-khun
Thank you
Khob-Khun mahk
Thank you very much
6. Khor-tode
Sorry
(The lady said to say this with krub or ka at the end to make the apology to seem more sincere.) I knew sorry because in tharntype epi 12 Type said sorry like a million times. So I went back to watch the scene when Type apologised a lot and he only said Khor-tode without the krub or maybe it’s a tv show or people might not say krub that much maybe if their close in Thai? Idk)
7. Mai- pben- rai
It’s fine/ it’s okay/ you’re welcome. To answer thank you or sorry.
8. Hiu khao- I’m hungry
Hiu Narm - I’m thirsty
9. Aroi- Yummy/delicious/ tasty
Aroi- jing-jing - Really delicious
Aroi- mahk- Very delicious
10. Mai-ao-pet
Don’t take spicy food
11. Pbai- laew-na
I’ve gotta go/I’m leaving/I’m going
Bonus:
I saw a comment on the video that said the first Thai word they learnt was raikantopeni and I burst out laughing 😂 since they show this at the start of basically every bl drama.
I learnt about the pronunciation of vowel sounds and the apostrophe is used to indicate that the vowel is short.
I also learnt about the 5 Tones which are as important to learn as consonants and vowels in Thai.
The tones are:
Mid tone
Low tone
Falling tone
High tone
Rising tone
It’s good that I now have the basic knowledge of the tones and I know that a word said in high tone could mean something completely different when using a falling tone and hearing the audio clips that come along with the book (read Thai in ten days) I’m speechless because it’s going to take a lot to reprogram my brain to be able to differentiate the different tones.
