Was supposed to write this and post it about two four hours ago (jeebus, where does the time go?), but eh. I’m not feeling too good at the moment, but that’s for another post entirely. If you visited any of my blog post pages, you probably saw something like this. Now it’s the official announcement: ThanksGaming 2015 is officially ON!
This is my fourth year fundraising for Extra Life. For the last three years, it was done with the Extra Life branding. Since I’m not playing on the official weekend this year, I felt the need to change it up a little. With all of that, ThanksGaming was born!
It’s a new name, but the same great people benefiting from all your donations: Extra Life and Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Also, because heroes (and the villains that loathe them) refuse to die, I am once again proud to be part of team City of Heroes, too.
During Thanksgiving weekend (in the US, so November 27-29), I will attempt to stream for around 30 hours straight, playing video games for the entire time. Which ones? It’s a secret to everybody! Seriously, though, look around my Backloggery and drop a suggestion or two or three in the ask box!
For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, Extra Life is a year-long fundraising effort by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals that reaches out to gamers to help out with fundraising. It’s free for anyone to join and raise funding, both offline and through their website. It all culminates with a 24-hour gaming marathon over a weekend.
Last year, I had a goal of $250. That was pretty gutsy, considering the people I talk to in meatspace and online. Imagine the shock when I more than doubled it and with a final tally of $503. That’s the kind of support I’m hoping for this year. Maybe not doubling it, but crushing it would definitely be awesome!
If you wish to donate by credit or debit card or through PayPal, you can click on the Source link on this post, click right here, or even type in the bit.ly link in the image and send some money securely through their website. I will be updating everyone on how things are going throughout the coming months.
When you’re done donating, go do as Wil Wheaton says and play more games!
