Both of them. When they’re tired enough. Obi snores like a helicopter on those rare occasions that he can fall into a deep sleep, but Shirayuki snores like a tiny little kitten always. Neither of them can bring themselves to wake the other up when it starts up.
- who takes out the trash
One time, when Obi was sick with the flu, he came out to get a glass of water and caught Shirayuki laboring a bag of garbage out to the curb with both hands. Now, no matter how sick, he takes it out before it gets that bad. Miss just doesn’t have the self-awareness to not let it get out of hand.
- who hands out candy vs who takes the kid(s) trick or treating
You mean, which method is Obi permitted to terrorize the neighborhood kids with? One year, Obi was in charge of the handing out of candy, but he made a haunted house maze in the garage that was so involved that she doesn’t think he slept all of October. The next year, she stayed home in her little forest sprite get up, only for Obi to come home having somehow gotten more candy than the kids.
Now they dress up in a family theme and go trick or treating together with a candy bowl by the front door.
- who goes to parent teacher conferences
Oh god, if you don’t think that both of them go to every meeting, you are deluding yourself. Obi is determined to be only the best, most involved parent, and Shirayuki is there to hold him back from getting too worked up over both good and bad feedback from the teachers.
Shirayuki doesn’t have the patience for PTA, though, and can’t for the life of her understand why Obi would involve himself in something that only sends him into ranty rages when he gets home.
- who packs a lunch for the other to take to work
So, like, Obi does, but Shirayuki would if she didn’t know how much Acts of Service, especially of the food variety, is Obi’s love language. He goes to excessive lengths to make only the best meals for her and their kids.
(It doesn’t stop her from waking up before him, though, just to make that one recipe that reminds him of the short few years of his childhood. Pancakes are his favorite! :) Every time she does it, she’s careful to wake him up before the kids, because she doesn’t think that he would be okay with them seeing him as a slobbering mess first thing in the morning)
- leaves clothes all over the floor/in the laundry basket vs who puts them away
Oh god, Obi. For all his cleanliness when it comes to crumbs and dust and the trash, he is The Worst about remembering to put his clothes in the hamper. It’s just not something he ever learned how to do and honestly, he takes a certain relish in having SO MANY CLOTHES that he can just LEAVE THEM LYING AROUND.
So Shirayuki picks them up and puts them away, torn between strangling him and just… letting it be.
- who organizes the DVDs and books
Shirayuki, definitely. She has a color system, complete with a catalogue for reference.
- who has a million magazine subscriptions
Neither. Obi is not a person to focus on one thing that much Shirayuki refuses. It’s a waste of natural resources, especially when they can get their subscriptions for cheaper online.
- who has a name for the stray neighborhood cat
Shirayuki! Actually, she has a name for all the neighborhood stray cats! She gives them scitches and sometimes snacks, but not too much because she knows that Obi is the one that feeds them every night. (He refuses to name them. Out loud. He gets attached to things he names)
- who walks around naked at night and forgets the living room window is open
Obi. And I wouldn’t say “forgets” as much as “walks the runway.” Shirayuki scolds him, reminds him that Mrs. Kino across the way has a bad heart, to which Obi replies “At least she’ll die happy.”
From the pies she brings over around the holidays, Shirayuki is pretty sure that Mrs. Kino agrees.
