Sending an ask that attacks me for doing something to protect myself is also super cool of you, so I guess I'm in good company!

Personally, I think Jensen's track record proves he's got a really complicated relationship with sexuality and gender, and that means sometimes you say some really insensitive shit. But I have never heard of a fan talk to him one-on-one about anything involving queerness and been met with anything other than love and respect. I think he's just some straight cis white guy, and he made his position very clear, and continuing to be angry about something you actually have zero chance of changing is not a good use of your energy. I also think that the level of vitriol was a little shocking; he said the same thing he's been saying for months, the only thing that changed was the context. Put that diplomatic nonsense next to Gigantor and it suddenly seems really wishy-washy, but the words were pretty much the same.

And like, the bottom line is that it's the quintessential Gaimanesque non-answer, and so tbh, I have no idea what he actually thinks! None! And, respectfully, neither do you? The closest we got to his actual opinion is the auto interaction, and while still frustratingly vague, that seemed to point more towards him being a supportive of a romantic reading than anything else. I also think that everyone is forgetting that Jensen started answering the question by saying: "I think people are using the word 'romantic' because there is no word in human language to describe that kind of love." To me, this means he thinks it clearly is romantic in addition to being more than that (i.e. cosmic), which is a really convenient out when he wants to remain "neutral." Which, honestly, I would also not want to piss off the side of the fandom known for stalking him and his family during a panel full of them, so maybe Gold Panel context is important here too.

Choosing to take vague statements a certain way to protect yourself is a perfectly valid response. And, hell, the bigots "purposely misunderstand" us all the time, so why shouldn't we? If you truly believe that Jensen is homophobic, and he made the mistake of being vague, then maybe you should scream from the rooftops that from his answer, you understand he means that Cas and Dean have regular sex on church altars across the continental US. I mean, he said it's a heavenly love, right? He agrees that Cas views Dean as his new religion? Historically, that kind of narrative has always been a precursor to or indicator of queer romantic love (ex. Patroclus/Achilles, David/Jonathan, etc.).

tl;dr Don't flatten my nuanced response in an attempt to argue that I am purposely misunderstanding/ignoring bigotry because I stan Jensen Ackles. It's not cute, and I don't stan him. I just recognize that he's a person and haven't put him on a pedestal.

Jensen had no business doing the main panel with Misha and sit there like a giant twat while Misha spoke about dean and cas having sex. Jensen couldn't do one panel by himself? He couldn't have Alex there? Nah! I'm not getting riled upon his behalf anymore. He is not a virgin that Mishmash is defiling. He is a 42 year old man. He has no right to complain about the overlord and the hellers. He should know better. just being honest. I don't hate him.

Actually, he did do one panel by himself - in the morning.  The J2 afternoon panel is the big event of any Creation con and Jared pulling out left them with a lot of potentially upset fans that they wanted to try to do something to appease.  I have no doubt they suggested Misha, as the next longest-running character on the show, be part of the panel.  It makes sense from a general audience perspective.  Looking at the schedule, Alex was already doing a panel in the immediate preceding slot to the afternoon J2 slot, and may not have wanted to do two in a row. 

What, was Jensen supposed to throw a tantrum and demand they make someone else change their schedule to be part of the panel, too?   To demand to do the afternoon panel solo because some nutcases on the Internet are going to be fucking weird about it if it’s only him and Misha?  At a con, he’s a professional at a work function.  He’s not going to make things even harder for Creation when they’re trying to work around Jared’s (perfectly reasonable but unfortunate) cancellation.  Speaking of actually being a giant twat…

Furthermore, Jensen was supposed to do what, exactly, when Misha decided to be Misha and find any excuse to make a sex joke that would bait his nutballs?  Yell at him?  Stomp angrily off the stage?  You’re entitled to think and do whatever you so choose anon, but I think you’re doing the mirrorverse version of what the hellers do: assuming this bullshit shipping nonsense is genuinely important on the level that any hint of a suggestion of it is A Big Deal.  Not only that, I’m not sure Jensen didn’t make the best choice in how he dealt with it anyway.

A fan asked what would be different if they were on an HBO or Starz type network.  I’m gonna guess fishing ‘heller on board because the answers for pretty much any show would be more cursing, gore, and sex.  Because HBO and Starz.  Obviously the ‘hellers are going to interpret Misha saying he was “grasping at straws trying not to say our characters are having sex“ as literally Misha and Jensen’s characters having sex together. 

But assuming Jensen even interprets it that way, since he knows D/C is not actually a thing and more sex is one of the three obvious answers to that question?  If Jensen makes a big deal about it?  Misha can pretend he meant their characters having sex in general and suggest Jensen is the one making it about the crackship specifically.  Which Jensen can then either try to play off jokingly (which works for Misha) or go on another rant about it and get called a homophobe again by unhinged loonies online (which also works just fine for Misha). 

Not even to mention that Jensen does not care if people ship, it’s when they try to make it part of canon and pull him and his acting into it that he gets annoyed.  This was Misha instigating (who can always get a talking-to in private) and about speculative alternate universes, not actual canon or potential canon on the CW.

So you know what?  I’m perfectly fine with Jensen pretending it was nothing and continuing to make fun of Misha for saying that what’d be different about being on a different network would be how they’d be on a different network before moving on to talk about The Boys like Misha hadn’t even said it.  Jensen does not deserve to be harassed by crazy people who cannot separate their bad OOC fanfic from reality just because he does not jump on every single opportunity to show contempt for that ship and its shippers.
