UGH I LOVE JIM CARREY!!! Not as obsessed as I was but he still holds a place in my heart!!! So of course, I can give you my thoughts<33 I'll just do my underrated favs because they don't get as much attention as they deserve...Also I haven't watched the movies in a bit so apologies ahead of time 🙏🏻
Chip Douglas
I think he's a little weird, but who isn't, and I still love him for his weirdness. I was taken aback when I first watched the movie, seeing how attached he got to the MC so easily. But I get it, he is a very lonely person, and he probably has some mental issues. I don't say that in a negative way but watching the movie he is definitely not "normal". He strikes me as insecure, so he is always clinging and trying to "help". So that way he doesn't lose the "friendship" and when the MC has enough, he is suddenly ruining his life. At the end of the movie when he tries to kill himself to "kill" TV. I view it as he doesn't want anyone especially children to end up like him. To end parents leaving the TV to babysit their children.
And I definitely feel for the childhood neglect; he was always watching TV because that was all he had. I relate heavily to that; your only comfort is your TV because the adults supposed to take care of you don't. You don't have friends, so you cling onto the only 'friendship' you have. He is so lonely and craves a friend that he stalks and takes great lengths to have one. The stuff he did to the MC was quite literally insane but shows how much your childhood can affect your adulthood. His dad was never around his mom just put him in front of a TV and called it a day. I feel really bad for him, if only his mom was better or if his dad was around. If he could've made some childhood friends, he would've turned out better; But that didn't happen. And that happens in real life all the time which is really saddening.
Chip is a very interesting character, and I don't think he gets enough appreciation. I wish a lot of people knew about the movie and cared a lot more bout Chip. I also love how much he loves Medieval Times (or whatever the restaurant is called lmfao). I can also appreciate how real and raw Chip's character is. OMG I just love the character so much! I was gonna write a fic about him but realized I hated writing long ass stories with multiple chapters, so I gave up lmfao. But there was a decent plot! I just want to give Chip a hug and kiss and tell him its okay.
Stanley Ipkiss
So, when I watched the movie, I was instantly attracted to him. And it's not even about looks, like yes, he is very attractive. But I love his personality, he can be a little goofy/cringe. But he is a very sweet and caring person which is very hot. I love a nice guy who is also kind of a loser. I feel really bad for him because everyone ridicules him and his best friend kinda sucks. I love his dog, Milo, he is the best boy and I'm so happy Stanley has him. Milo is truly Stanley's best friend. I definitely cringed during the movie lol, there were just some parts that made me turn away and laugh.
I love the Mask persona; he made me laugh a lot. When a gang tried to rob him and he pulled stuff out of his pockets, and he pulled out a condom I laughed loudly. I know I'm sooo immature, but seriously then he made a Tommy gun. Which was also hilarious, and I love tommy guns, so he gets brownie points. The suit is also very cunty and I love it!!! I felt so bad for Stanley when that Peggy betrayed him. Like I get she had her reasons, I mean I would also do some things for rent money. I'm glad her death isn't canon because she didn't deserve to die, maybe be put behind bars but not death. Now I love Tina like oh my god she is so fucking sexy, I don't know if I want to be her or be with her. Stanley is lucky to have her and she is lucky to have Stanley. I'm glad she isn't a cunt bag, like she wasn't insufferable at all during the movie. Normally movies try to make the women evil at the beginning and then make them nice and cutesy at the end. I don't know how to explain, but if you know you know. But Tina, she was a very consistent character and I loved her. Yeah she was manipulative at first but she was still a nice person and just loved to have a good time.
I know I should be yapping about just Jim Carrey's characters but I just love these movies so bear with me lol. I love how Stanley got more confident during the end. He is still goofy but he isn't a pushover anymore. He realizes he doesn't need the mask anymore and he can just be himself. I love his character development and I want to cover his face in kisses, I just love Stanley so so much!
Ace Ventura
I love love Ace; I have a sweater of him! I just love how goofy and silly he is, and how he takes himself very seriously while doing some of the most ridiculous things. He is very attractive, and the first movie had me acting a fool for him (I mean look at all those scenes when he was getting it on). While the movie was high key transphobic (look back out how they did the 'villain' and shit) the movie is lucky Jim Carrey played Ace because he saved the movie. I also like how he dresses, it's very unique and I loveee unique styles. He is a very expressive man, and I love that because I don't have to guess what he is thinking. And I'm not very expressive with my face (I've tried I just don't have the ability lol) so I love watching people who can do a lot of expressions. And then Ace being an animal lover is a green flag. I love animals a lot and seeing how much he cares about them makes me so happy. I know a lot of people who don't care about animals because they view them lower than humans. Or some other reasons so seeing Ace start a business for animals and having a lot of pets and caring for them makes me happy and it's very refreshing to see.
When I was on my Ace bullshit I was trying very hard to find fics of him and I found some, but there is this on Ao3 that was sooo good. I fell in love and its literally written so well and Ace is written in character. Y/N is written good too, there are multiple chapters and its finished. I just want to be a stay at home wife for Ace and bake and cook for him. Hopefully he'll love my apple pies! AHHH I need an Ace, someone who cares about their personal hygiene, especially putting in extra care for their hair. Like me and Ace have that in common we don't like people messing up our hair. I have curly hair and my hair routine go crazy, its a pain and I don't want people to touch it because they mess it up and its a pain in my ass. Ace being the same way because of his special hair style, which I love by the way, its very unique and low-key kind of hot. I can imagine us having a whole shelf full of hair products and our shower filled with nice body soaps and very good shampoos and conditioners. Gosh I want another movie with that man, but I can see why they didn't do another one. Because the second one kinda flopped and the plot kinda sucked. The first was the best (minus the transphobia) and the second one made him seem like some kind of loser idiot. I don't care for the second one to be honest, but I'm just glad I get to see more Ace so its whatever.
