So... We remade our subsystem chart since getting new members. It's getting really difficult to actually graph out in a way where there's space, so...... If we get more we're gonna have to redo the whole thing again, probably! Figured this would be interesting to share anyhow.
It's right behind me, isn't it?
We were talking to our mother recently about someone's account on tiktok (for unrelated reasons to this topic), and the mother kept going through their reposts and disgustedly bringing up "And they keep posting about supporting drug addicts and the homeless! And how they need more support and we shouldn't hate them!?", fully expecting us to agree with her that this was a stupid thing to do and advocate for because of course, drug addicts deserve all the stigma and harrassment they get, right? People who "choose" to throw their life away "deserve" to not be supported because obviously, they "got themselves in that situation" and now they're "taking taxpayer funds" because there's government support programs in place that some are lucky enough to get a little bit of support from. And honestly it shocked us the level of bullshit coming out of her mouth--so no, we didn't agree, and we told her off for thinking we would, because what the actual fuck.
I don't care if someone is homeless because of drug abuse. I don't care if someone chose to do drugs and now is stuck doing them. I don't care if someone got government housing and is still using drugs while occupying that space. I don't care if they "got themselves in that situation". I don't care if they're using because of peer pressure. I don't care if someone uses because they're homeless. I don't care if people who are using even want to stop or not.
But what I do give a fuck about is that people are seen as people and not pests. I hate that people who are using drugs or are homeless aren't seen as fully living and breathing people deserving of a life when they fucking should be. There isn't a major difference between you and a drug user or a homeless person. You're both people. You don't know how they got there, and you shouldn't need to know how they got there to decide that they're still fucking alive and still deserve to live as much as anyone else. And yes this is a hill I'm going to fucking die on because I'd much rather be around and feel safer around a bunch of drug users and homeless people than someone who would rather see them shoved aside and left to rot, no matter how progressive you think you are. You're not a safe person to be around if you hate the homeless and if you hate drug users.
