Muppets Tonight (1996-1998)
The Mirror
Yeah, 'Everything Burns' is cool and all but 'The Mirror' is absolute peak. (I am not at all biased due to my love of 90s-00s ska punk)
Gonna be insane and cringe over the brothers for a sec..
I keep thinking about Red Hot and Deep Blue and how they're a tag team fighting duo who are presented as brothers even though they are very clearly not related. I'm not a fanfic writer- at least not to the degree I'd like to be, but fuck if i could finish i fic. I keep thinking about how the idea of them being presented as brothers was a marketing idea by someone else- A manager or something, in order to appeal to a wider audience or whatever and explain away their closeness. Cause my dumb shipping ass loves to think they were and are a couple behind the act. Unfortunate they have to keep it under wraps, but they were fed some nonsense about appearing "available" to their growing fanbase to keep fans interested. Beyond just the fights. They opposed the idea at first of course, but hungry for fame, excitement and the thrill of the fight, they eventually caved, but only after much talk about easing up on the "brothers" narrative a little. (Not that i mind either way... 😏) I love thinking their real relationship is the Arcadion's worst kept secret though, and it hasn't deterred enthusiastic fangirls(and guys) one bit. In fact for some fans, it's made their act that much more interesting. In any case, management would prefer the two conduct themselves in a specific way when in the public eye, and sometimes that means flattering fans when it comes to interactions and meetups. Between Red Hot and Deep Blue, the two are very focused when in the arena, but from the tiny slice of interaction we've had outside of it, Red Hot is a little oblivious while Deep Blue is anything but calm and cool and I would like to think that's a pretty good reflection of them overall. I love thinking when fans get a little too close with Red Hot, Deep Blue can get a little huffy when they're back home. But he doesn't seem to mind when fans are all over him. Bit of a hypocritical ass, but he seems like to type to be that way lmaoo. Absolutely adores attention but can't handle when Red Hot gets the same... that's his man, what are you doing? He doesn't mind at all if Red Hot gets recognized or has adoring fans coming up to him- happy for his bro even, it's just the ones that get a little too close when Deep Blue gets a bit impatient. I think it's funnier to think that a lot of the times, Red Hot doesn't really notice the difference. He's not as enthusiastic about all the attention like Deep Blue is. He's in it purely for the thrill of the fight, everything else he leaves up to management and his "brother". And this kind of gets on Deep Blue's nerves a little lmaoo Deep Blue: "Getting a little friendly with that girl from the Backroom, don't you think?" Red Hot: "I don't know what you're talking about..." (He really doesn't) Deep Blue: "Bro, don't play dumb with me, I saw the way she was flirting with you." Red Hot: Are you... jealous..?? Deep Blue: -Scoffs and folds his arms in Californian- As if. I know the role of "villain" was an act they were instructed to play by the President but I do like to think it was just them being themselves on some level, ha. I need Deep Blue to be a brat so badly. Aside from little lovers quarrels, I do like thinking Deep Blue is filled with all kinds of attention seeking schemes to bring more people to their fights, especially now that they'll be fighting unenhanced. Deep Blue and the Extremes management team are constantly in communication. Red Hot goes along with anything as long as he gets to fight at all. Does anyone remember if they're real names were ever revealed??? or was it just the cat sisters and their chosen kitty man who had names??

The Extremes may be from Planet Koozebane.
