I'm really in an Origins mood, especially for my new Edmina Cousland or Olivia Amell. Or whump prompts to put especially Illario or the mages in the torment nexus. I've got #writing prompts or prompt a quest and I'll write about how the character handled it or feel free to come up with your own.
I'm also always happy to write family and platonic relationships (most comfortable writing everyone from DA2, and the Dellamortes, but open to branching out)
OC details below the cut:
OCs:
Kalira Tabris: Rogue who is very bad at the Warden's official neutrality. Eventually technically goes awol from the Wardens, not because she really wants to, but because she feels she is being used as a puppet for bad First Warden decisions. She still considers herself a Warden and keeps in touch with Warden friends, but she refuses to become a political figurehead for decisions she believes are wrong. She is in the world's slowest burn enemies to friends to lovers with Loghain.
Zuzu Hawke: Rogue Hawke, intensely dedicated to her sister's safety and freedom, and eventually to the same for all mages. Marries and fights a war along side Anders. (She is also my main worldstate's Herald of Andraste, which causes massive changes in Inquisition.)
Hawke, Just Hawke: Mage Hawke, Fenrismancer, on and off blood mage, Malcolm was an elf and this significantly shapes their sense of identity (she/they, agender and goes exclusively by their surname.)
Hector: Chantry orphan raised to believe that being a templar was the most important thing he could possibly do, up until his magic emerged during templar training and he was shipped off to Kinloch Hold. A depressed kid who was still too dedicated to the templars and kept to himself, most of his friends in the Circle were the Tranquil who were kind to him. He still has weapons training from his templar days and steps up to protect people during The Broken Circle. He spends most of Inquisition trying to find and protect the surviving Tranquil, and later takes the lead on disseminating the cure for Tranquility.
Maëlys: (Renamed, formerly Saoirse) Former slave turned Shadow Dragon. She is definitely not a blood mage; that is definitely necromancy (she's a blood mage. She was almost killed in a ritual and lashed out, taking control of her own blood back form the magister trying to use it. This gives her a fear of blood magic, but also experience with it. She is deeply in denial.) Despite being a Shadow Dragon, there is increasing tension between her and the Shadow Dragons because of the high number of magisters and other Altus mages and shortage of ex slaves in leadership.
Demelza: Tranquil mage who refused the cure, but found a balance of emotions she could experience but still retreat from while working closely with spirits in the tombs of Nevarra. When she was no long welcome there, she reluctantly followed Varric away from the safety and balance she had found working among the spirits. Living in the Lighthouse is intensely stressful for her because living in the Fade means no longer being able to retreat from her emotions the way she was accustomed to.
Merran Hawke: The youngest of the Gallows survivors, taken in by Bethany Hawke post DA2. He's kind of a mess because the Gallows is not conducive to children growing up into healthy, well-adjusted adults, but he's trying. He joins du Shardan's mostly elven heist crew and ends up as Rook over the course of trying to find some direction in his life and ends up in a messy situationship with Illario.
Hattie Brosca: Mob enforcer, Grey Warden. Not usually a noble hunter but if a future king practically falls into her lap, who is she to turn down an opportunity? She is torn between her usual self-preservation instincts and how much responsibility is suddenly on her shoulders. May end up falling for her mark and romancing Alistair or may end up messing up her own plans by falling for Zevran.
Nell Surana: Politically minded mage who could have risen in the ranks to become a senior enchanter or even First Enchanter some day if she didn't have more interesting friends who get her in serious trouble. Cullen may have a crush on her, but she considers him her nemesis. She was in love with Jowan for a long time, then falls hard and fast for Alistair, then loses him to defeating the archdemon. Eventually she reconnects with an old friend, and she and Anders get together some time after DA2.
Velyn "du Shardan": Half elf conman who lost his family in the purge of the Halamshiral slums a few years before DAI and set out for revenge on the Empress for it. After killing Celene, he becomes something like a Robin Hood figure for the elves of Orlais, and starts a heist crew to steal elven artifacts back from Orlesian museums. Friend of Red Jenny, unexpected friends with Loghain, very reluctant mentor to Merran, and surprisingly effective player of the Game.
Viola Trevelyan: Mage from Ostwick who played by the rules for her entire life until her Circle voted against rebellion, at which point she snapped and killed a templar to force their hand. After the explosion at the Conclave she agrees to help the Inquisition under the condition that they help her find the child who was taken from her at birth as is standard in Circles.
Varania "Rook": Not technically an OC, but I write her as a Rook. After her intense falling out with Fenris, Varania falls in with the Shadow Dragons because they are the only steady work for an ex-slave elf in Tevinter.
do we have any idea what his dynamic with fenris was that he was willing to ask around the best mercenaries he could find in order to con them into walking into an ambush (potentially ruining long-standing business relationships with meeran and athenril that he seems to have?) by doing an elaborate act of being a new to the surface terrified lyrium smuggler for basically no reason
Not trying to victim blame or anything but you’d think with all the times necromancers have tried/succeeded in raising undead armies the people of Tamriel would’ve stopped burying their dead fully armed and equipped for battle.
Like, I know your great grandpa’s sword was A Part Of Him and all but maybe you could bury SuperDeathblade somewhere not right next to SuperDeathbladeMan. Just in case.
oh, what, so he can get his ass kicked when he inevitably gets raised from the dead?? you want to make great grandpa into a loser? a chump?? if his corpse is going to be puppeteered into battle by a sick and twisted sorcerer then by the nine he is going to do it well
i know varric’s beardlessness is because he doesn’t like being culturally dwarven but if bioware generally gives all dwarven men full beards and is too cowardly to give female dwarves any beards then i have to wonder if, while humans and elves read him as, in isabela’s actual words, a “paragon of manliness”, dwarves ever think it’s, like, a gender thing?
[cadash voice] varric i just wanted to say, when i was like “okay listen up princess” earlier, that was because you’re a merchant’s guild rich kid talking about lyrium containment crates as if i don’t know lyrium containment crates, and not because like. uh. not because i was being weird about. i mean, you know
