I was thinking about the origin of Les’s name again, since it differs so much from David and Sarah.

I usually prescribe to the headcannon that it’s short for Leshem, meaning something akin to “precious” or “gem” in Hebrew (based off internet sources, as I’m not a Hebrew speaker.)

But today I learned that Les is a common nickname for the Ukrainian name Lesya. I know we usually say the Jacobs are Polish, but there were plenty of Jewish people in Ukraine as well, it’s possible that they’re Ukrainian Jews and Les’ name comes from that origin!
