Hello Dreadrook Nation!

Today, the 10th of January, the Lighthouse server turned 1 year old!

What better way to mark our anniversary and a year filled with events than by revealing our Valentine's Day celebration?

We have one very strict requirement: that you bring your fluffiest Dreadrook to the occasion.

The Prompts:

Date Night/Day (tea, picnic, skating, fake date) Romance Tropes (love potion, cuddle/love polen, fairytale, regency) Happily Ever After (go wild as long as the ending is happy)

The sub-prompts in the parentheses are there for inspiration and as guidelines. It's your choice to use them or not. The only and most important thing we ask of you is that you go all out into absolute shameless, wholesome romance.

The Rules:

Pick your prompt(s)! There are two unique prompts for each day of the week. You may select one or multiple if you so desire.

All works should be new or posted for the first time after the event begins.

We do not condone use of generative AI in any way, shape or form. We want to see your creativity!

Make something Dreadrook based on your choice(s). All mediums - art, fic, vids, gifs, game photography, mood boards, collages, edits - are welcome. Create what you love to create. You may make multiple works (ex: one for each day) or combine them as you see fit.

The Lighthouse is one year old and I cannot believe this! I am so happy and proud of this little space we all created in the Fade net, and how it thrived and grew.

It’s a silly thing that a shippy Dragon Age server is one of my dearest creations, but it’s true! I love it so much and I’ll always be around to tend to it, or just be there for clownery (which is tbh the most common activity).

And all my love and appreciation to my beloved mods that make everything so much better and easier to manage and who I adore beyond words. @scriberated @fenrelmercar @virevas @crystalizedbloodd in no particular order cause I wanna hug you all! Beloveds, never change. You’re awesome!😍🥹

“Solas,” she moaned softly, her own fingers following the path he preferred to take with his tongue. She had time; hours til the dawn. Her exhaustion weighed heavy on her, but she wore it with familiarity by now. It was nothing she could not handle. 

She knew what came next: the end. 

All that remained was what she could no longer control. It was up to them; her companions, her enemies, and her lover. She had laid the foundation as well as she could, still burning from the failures she escaped in the prison. Mere hours ago, she was still trapped there, reasoning with her own consciousness and the well of regret that came with being a prisoner of the Dread Wolf's machinations. 

She had escaped, but she missed him. She knew where he was. She knew how to find him once the sun rose. But the morrow would bring a finality that even she could not guarantee. Would she ever rest in Solas’s arms again? She did not know. She could not know. 

So, in a last, desperate bid to remind herself of what they shared, she imagined him there with her, his mouth weaving poetry into her wet heat as his fingers dug so deeply into the thick of her thighs that there would be ten little bruises that she would hide with leather and cloth when she arose to the world around her. 

“I need… I need—please!” she murmured, shaking as she slipped her fingers inside, circling her clit with her thumb—just like he taught her. Pleasure had not been a foreign concept to her, but despite her background as a musician, she had little musicality with her own body. But Solas. Solas strummed the strings of her figure as though he had been studying to play her for years. 

Perhaps he had.

She knew it was a possibility—a likelihood, even—that his love had been a calculated undoing. It was her weakness. He knew that. She had handed it to him with eyes that knew better than to trust what she saw. Knowledge that could cleave the world in half and still, she rested her heart in his capable hands and let him close his fingers around it. Perhaps he never loved her at all. The thought came, unbidden, and she choked on a sob, fingers still buried knuckle deep in her pulsing cunt. 

“Ean’sulahn?” 

The voice startled her; so real, so corporeal. Their blood connection was broken, she knew. She no longer had a cord within her mind that led to wherever he stood. It had severed the moment she said goodbye to Varric. So that is why, when the voice comes again, she is more suspicious than relieved. 

“Vhenan? Is it you that I feel?”

It sounded like Solas, and Maker if that didn’t fray the edges of her nerves with desperation. She wanted to touch him, to hold him. A tear streaked down her face and she wiped it away angrily. How weak she was, here at the very end. She had remained steadfast through all that needed to be done, but here she lay, breaking apart at the seams from the simple sound of his voice in the night. She tried to fight it, tried to rationalize that a desire demon had followed her Fade-drenched scent to her room in the Lighthouse. But the voice came once more; soft, achingly gentle, and searching.

“Nadia?” 

It broke her. Only he would know that name. She plunged her mind deeper into the Fade, searching him out. “Solas?” she cried, her heart not satisfied with the million goodbyes they had already shared. Only silence answered as she searched and she cracked around the edges, calling his name in the Fade, again and again. She crumpled quietly, chest aching. She should have known. Her mind began to retract, to pull back into the physical world, when,

“Vhenan.” It was said on a breath, an admission of relief, and she whipped around. 

“Solas.”

He was beside her before her lips could form around any more words, gathering her into his arms. She clutched the back of the tunic he wore, burrowing her nose into the crook of his neck to let the sobs wrack her body.  “Ir abelas, vhenan,” he murmured, again and again into her hair. But she only shook her head, pulling him closer, sobbing harder when his hand found the back of her head and cradled it close—the way a lover would. He loved her.

They may love each other from afar but their hatred is intimate. Hatred. Ha…tred. They both test the word a few times over the months, before they discard it. Hatred is a crude little gnash at best. Noncommittal, brief.

No, what they feel for one another is dense and deep. Loathing. Loathing is a moan, then a tongue between the teeth, and finally, a furtive swallow. Looooaaathingggg. Mmmmm... Yes. Something to choke on, if taken too far. It feels so good - so shameful - sliding home, deep into the back of their throats to linger at the precipice there.

Loathing feels so exquisite in their mouths, they begin to wonder how it might taste to act on it. To invite it in like a kiss, open-mouthed and shivering with ragged anticipation. To sense the soft, curious flick of a tongue, and bite down until the blood gushes. And then drink and drink and drink and drink, swallowing the hurt in wretched, desperate mouthfuls.

The love is just…there. Possible only because of the vast expanse between them. They didn't earn it. They only know how to love from a distance - their insides only recognise it at arm’s length. He doesn’t touch her when they trade places. The love wouldn’t survive it, and he wants to spare something selfish from his jaws.

She escapes that place with a loathing so thick she almost gags on it. Fuck him. When she sees him in Minrathous, she needs to close the distance between them to limit the love that won’t leave.

They rejoice as they race through the broken streets together, her so tiny underfoot and he looming so large above. Her elation surges higher with every savage rip and tear he suffers - his whimpers the closest they might come to shared rapture. He sounds so good, so good like that, but he is hers to take, in the end.

It doesn’t take long before he’s so, so, sosoclose, gripping her tight as he thrusts the dagger between her waiting ribs. It feels right to want her like this, to want to feel the ecstasy of her mangled gasp. She’s slipping, but she needs to strain, press, and pierce into him so desperately that the spurt of blood is a slick, wet release. He's like this, just for her.

She's ready and wanton, wrapping her thighs around him and arching back, taking him with her to the other side. Then she’s laughing, mocking him and dying and reaching out to press hard on his bruised eye. He’s too spent to go again but he leans into the ache, panting like a broken animal, a sick dog breathing in a waning bouquet.

She loathes him so damn much. And he abhors her.
