This is largely a Veilguard blog - I’ve been a DA fan since DA:O and I’ve been fandom active since this post. I mainly write nonbinary Crow Rook because my OC is dancing a jingle in my head and refuses all attempts at exorcism.

You - white queer person who goes on and on about protecting black trans fems - Do you have black trans fem friends? What about black nonbinary friends or black trans masculine friends? Do you have any black friends? If you live in a predominantly white area and feel like you don't have many chances to build community with black people offline do you still engage with black art, even when no one's looking? Do you read black literature for your own enjoyment? Do you actively engage with anti-racist politics and challenge your fellow white people? Do you see black trans fems as human beings that you share community with or are they an abstract concept that exist at an arms length away from you? Because it's good to say you care but are your words aligning with your actions off the internet and outside of online public scrutiny where no one is watching you perform or is it all just lip service?
To follow up on that rb. People who speak English as their only or first language, don’t really get how privileged that is. So many things don’t get translated into other languages. From video games to movies to books, you’re almost forced to learn English if you want to engage with that media because otherwise, it’s gonna take years for it to be available in your language, it might never even get translated, or you have to rely on fan translations and it’s that thing where if it’s only available in English, only people who speak English will know about it so you’re kinda forced. To have to talk about it in e English online. I wish we lived in a perfect world where there is no language hierarchy but that’s not the case
I hope it's okay to derail a bit, but if your language is small enough (as mine is), this isn't even just the case with entertainment.
What news people that only speak my language get is so limited, that I've caught cases of really blatant (and right-wing) fake-news. People who can read in English/other foreign languages probably aren't getting their international news from Bulgarian outlets and people who can't, can't double-check the information anyway.
This + (a well-earned) distrust of the west and its media means that it's very easy to move public opinion in a direction that's bad for the individual citizen but great for the 1%.
