As today is my 19th birthday, I’ve decided to share my thoughts and theories when it comes to where the Voltron Lions where found! This does link it’s self to a rewrite I’m still in the process of planning and is mostly up in the air and will be for years likely.

This is also for @thatanxiouswriter or AnAnxiousWriter on aO3 as the fic I’m writing for their Halloween Keith prompts has been delayed again because of unfortunate circumstances, involving my grandmother’s health ending with her in my house post spinal neck surgery with me in charge of her blood sugar and insulin. The chapter plan was completely and the first one and a half seance written over 2,300 words so it’s still going just slowly in the meantime In joy!

The Lions-

Where the Lions were located is more important than it seems. It’s not just where they chose to hide, but where they chose to test a would be Paladin before checking if a psychic bond could be formed and if their compatible.

The Blue Lion, 10,000 year ago the caves where Blue was found likely was under water (head canon Texas). It’s likely that it was meant to test Lance’s creativity, perceptiveness and strategy while under pressure (likely the drawing that glow when touch in a cave that is dark would lead to an opening, but because the land became a dessert it just drop them in still counts some what as perceptiveness noticing the drawings in a dark cave), that he instead proved by noticing the Lions eyes moving and choosing to simply nock on the Force field proving himself The Blue Paladin finding a pathway and solution that works for him quickly being flexible to change and adapt when needed and able to notice things when others don’t.

The Green Lion, was hidden in nature, it was tricky and hard to find it takes someone intelligence and creative but also stubborn and dedicate like Pidge to go through the whole jungle just to find it proving Herself The Green Paladin Persevering and striving forewords towards Her goals armed with Her intelligence like a weapon and determination to see it through no matter how long it takes Her.

The Yellow Lion, was hidden in a cave system and was set so that the tester would have a unstable way down and have to have conviction and the strength of will to keep going down even and especially if they are like Hunk was are scared but as he did and was still hold steady throughout fear to rescue Lance He Proved Himself the Yellow Plaidan With a big heart to feed his conviction and strength of will and kindness that holds the team steady thorough all their emotional storms.

The Red Lion, would have likely been found in a place with fire and volcanic activity. It would have been a palace fraught with danger at every step, even the air would have been deadly. It would have been a place where you would have never been more aware of your self as an individual. One mistake and it was over, it was only you, your instincts, your skills and your conviction what kept pushing you forward. Keith would have been pushed to his limit and his trauma with his dad dying in a fire would have reared it’s ugly head but he ultimately would have passed but instead The Red Lion is on a Galra Battle cruiser and in some was it’s just as bad. (In Keith case that conviction was that others were counting on him to get The Red Lion.) Keith been made to navigate the Galra ship alone with only a faint pull was definitely a test of his awareness of himself and instincts. He then finds The Red Lion, and even when They don’t drop the force field they still fight the soldiers to protect The Red Lion. Even going as opening the space hatch knowing it might suck Him out, that was definitely a test of skill, conviction, and loyalty. Keith pasted with flying colors Proving Himself The Red Paladin his skills with a sword and flying natural and mystery’s instincts with the lions, his conviction and loyalty willingness to put Himself in danger to protect what he considers his.

The Black Lion, waiting, watching, patiently, for when the others would finally come home. The Castle Of Lions, Their Home. My test, Shiro’s test, trust, unflinching trust that they can do it on their own. He may accompany one the youngest, but not help not interfere, no He must just watch let the struggle. They must learn to stand even when you can’t, when you aren’t there they must learn to function with or without you telling them what to do. The need to function every without a Head, so that we may not simply be Severed at the Neck. You may ask but let them answer, question but let them retort and discuss. Do be sure to communicate, but do not give orders They and We are not Soldiers. None are expendable. Only when Shiro do all of this natural dose The Black Lion see him as Their Paladin.

Yes The Black Lion did a Physic check on Shiro first when they got to the Castle Of Lions and the had him prove it on the Field he is most definitely on a tight leash.

Green vibed with Pidge so fast that’s why hers is short Yellow was also being filled in of the situation after already picked Hunk by Blue so that’s why he could fly them at all.

Blue had been aware of Keith for a year and can tell he picks up on her quintessence frequency but isn’t her Paladin so was just keeping him in the area knowing Paladins are drawn to each other.

I kinda hate that we didn’t really get to see the paladins explore their elements. Like pidge and tech and earth, Keith and fire, Lance and water, and so on. Like yea, their lion had some elemental powers but likeeeee

I wanted to see the PALADINS and their elements, not their lions. Ig maybe some alien Altman magic or connecting w their lions could enable them to have the elemental abilities.

I read a fic that has the paladins able to mentally be connected w one another, and they could feel each others emotions. And Lance being the mediator, when he felt that one of the others was stressed, could mentally allow his rushing ocean to sooth Keith’s roaring fire (for example) or whatever and it just seemed like a really cool concept.

That fic really explored the team bonding and how it’s more TEAM bonding, understanding each other, rather than being able to fight together as one in combat for their lions.

Ig I js wanted to see them be Voltron together but more without the lions, showing more strength in themselves rather than only being powerful with magic alien mechanical lions
